The oil and gas industry in Northwest Oklahoma is booming! Truck drivers to fill the

transportation needs of these businesses is a huge concern.

As a result of that need, Northwest Technology Center approached Central Technology Center in Drumright about the possibility of offering the driver training for specific

companies. The first class started in Alva in March of 2011.

“Since the program began, we have trained 65 drivers.” said Charlotte Hadwiger, Business and Industry Services Director at NWTC’s Alva Campus. “The starting salaries are above $40,000, and can go up to $125,000 per year.”

The program has also been expanded to NWTC’s Fairview campus and also to Autry Technology Center in Enid and High Plains Technology Center in Woodward.

“We are in desparate need of truck drivers in our area and we have continual inquiries on how to enroll in truck driver training classes,” said Steve Kliewer, Business and Industry Services Director on NWTC’s Fairview campus. “The training comes from an organization with a great reputation for training truck drivers and this curriculum has been specifically developed to address the needs of the oil and gas industry in our area.”

For more information on the Truck Driver Training courses being offered at both of Northwest Technology Center’s campuses, call 580.327.0344 in Alva or 580.227.3708 in Fairview or access NWTC’s website at www.nwtech.edu.
