General Education Classes, Advanced, Cambridge or Gifted classes are within one team of teachers.
ESLS Support Facilitator is assigned primarily to one team.
Reading Class is based on the Broward Schools Placement Reading Chart(FSA Level 1 or 2, BAS scores, and teacher recommendations)
Advanced Team
High level Standardized Test Scores (Level 4 or 5)
Placement is based on scores and teacher recommendation from Elementary School.
Most students participate in all advanced classes.
Rigorous and faster paced curriculum/exams
Recommended for the organized and independent learners.
Specialized Varying Exceptionalities class (SVE)
These students meet exemption criteria from taking State and District testing and instead participate in the Florida Standards Alternate Assessment (FSAA)

They provide the student with equal access.
These are provided within the general education setting.

Modifications
Modifications change what the student is taught or expected to learn.
Students receiving modifications participate in the statewide Florida Standards Alternative Assessment (FSAA).
Welcome Letter
Your child’s Support Facilitator willbe assigned during pre-planningweek.
A letter will be sent home duringthe first week of school withdetailed information.
Learning Lab
The learning lab is available each morning at 8:55 a.m. once the school gates are open for students.
Students can come to finish homework assignments, get help on specific HW questions or review for an upcoming quiz or test.
Due to limited space the Lab is not a replacement and can not be used for the sole purpose of morning care.
“Tips” Weekly email
A weekly email is sent to most parents as a “frontloading” tool to share information about upcoming quizzes, tests, projects or assignments. This is based on the IEP.
The email will provide effective communication between home and school and offer organization support.

Student Schedule Schedule for ‘20-’21 school year.
4 classes per day.
A/B block scheduling. Classes last all year.
Classes are approximately 85-90 minutes.
Most 6th grade classes are in the portables
Breakfast - 8:25a.m. – 8:55a.m.
Lunch - 30 minutes during Period 2/6. Times TBA

Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast- All students are entitled to a free breakfast8:45a.m. – 9:15a.m.
Lunch- during Period 2 30 Minute Lunch Student are not required to sit at
assigned tables.

Bus Transportation
Bus number is mailed to your home address about one week before school starts.
Parent Transportation
The drop-off and pick-up area is located
off of Vista Park Road behind Cypress Bay High.
Medical Needs
Nurse Tech is in the Admin office.
Medication must be prescribed by a Doctor.
Authorization for Medication Form must be current if medication must be given on a schedule, as needed or a field trip.
Authorization for Medication Form is good for 1 Year.
