*Call to Worship

This is the Good News, the grave is empty, the stone is rolled away, Christ is Risen, He is Risen, indeed!

This is the Good News, the light shines in the darkness, And the darkness can never put it out, Christ is Risen, He is Risen, indeed!

This the Good News, all our disappointments, failures and despair have been given new life. What we thought was dead, is alive, Christ is Risen, He is Risen indeed!

*Hymn 243 Jesus Christ is Risen Today Prayer of Adoration and Confession and The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

part of this time of fellowship. • If you are available to deliver an Easter lily to people from the congregation

who are homebound, please meet in the Sanctuary following the service.

Welcome to Grace Church After Work Coffee House, April 6, 7:00 pm - WHAT'S NEW? It has been over 7 months since the first After Work Coffee House session. As the Easter Season begins, we are given the opportunity to focus again on rebirth and renewal. On Friday, April 6, the Rev. Dr. Jean Morris will host the After Work Coffee House here at Grace Church in the Lounge. Young Adults are invited to meet with Jean to share experiences of WHAT’S NEW in our lives, in our faith, in our communities, and in the world. New Ministry: Chopping vegetables for healthy snacks for Connaught School. Connaught school is our neighbour, as are the students who attend there. The Engagement and Service Committee is exploring ways to help meet their needs. Preparing and delivering healthy snacks is the first step in a healthy partnership that has potential to grow with the resources and volunteers Grace has to offer. Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will be chopping apples and carrots, bag them in individual portions, and deliver them to Connaught twice per week. For more information, please check the website http://gracechurchcalgary.com/healthy-snacks-for-connaught-kids/ or speak with Cindy Stephenson at [email protected], Lesley Lee; or Marlene Doherty about how you can take part.

GraceFull Seniors, April 19, 11:30 am – An Introduction to Arthritis - Arthritis is an unfortunately common disease, and because of that we sometimes make assumptions about it. But arthritis isn’t a single disease; the term is an informal way of referring to the over 100 different types of arthritis and related conditions that cause joint pain. Gilles Fournier, volunteer with the Arthritis Society, will provide an overview of arthritis: what it is, major types, symptoms, and how to manage the disease. All are welcome. Lunch will be served. Please advise Cindi at [email protected] or 403.244.5861 if you can attend.

From the Engagement and Service Committee: An exhibit hosted by Mount Royal University, “Walking With Our Sisters” will be held from April 29 to May 13 at Mount Royal University’s Riddell Library and Learning Centre. It is a commemorative art installation and ceremony in honour of murdered and missing indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit relatives.

Service Opportunities at Grace

• Chopping Vegetables for healthy snacks for Connaught School • English Language Learners (ELL) Program Volunteers - Our ELL program has been

so popular that we are in need of additional volunteers to help newcomers to Canada improve their conversational English language skills. The program runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:30 am to noon.

• Nursery, Sunday School and High School Class Helpers Needed - The Grace family is thankful for our vibrant children and youth ministries. Helpers are needed to assist our dedicated teachers by being present once a month to help with class activities. No lesson planning is required.

• Ushers Needed - Ushers help welcome worshippers, direct newcomers around the

building, receive and count the offering, read the offertory prayers, and help with emergencies.

Please contact Cindy Stephenson, Coordinator of Volunteers, at 403.244.5861 or [email protected] if you are willing to help in any of the above areas.
