BABY BOTTLE BLESSINGS
Help the Pregnancy Resource Center — take one of the baby bottles in the narthex and fill it with silver change, checks, or currency. Bottles should be returned to the church by February 24. In 2018 our parish donations to the Baby Bottle Blessings
campaign raised $270. That was wonderful, but let’s try to do even better this year. The women facing unplanned and difficult pregnancies need our love, prayers, and support. Thank you for your continued generosity.

Dear Friends, For more than 30 years the Shelby Presbyterian Church Food Ministry has provided meals and a food pantry to the hungry and homeless of the Shelby community. Nearly all of the food used in the preparation of lunches and given away in the food pantry is donated to the ministry. St. Mary and Christ the King have been an important partner to SPC in being able to provide these services, and on behalf of our Session and the Food Ministry, I would like to say thank you for the most recent donation from your Thanksgiving collection, as well as past donations. We have been blessed with a strong group of adults to guide our youth group. THANK YOU Eloisa Amaya (adult leader) as well as Joel Aleman and Deya Garcia (core team advisors). CONGRATULATIONS to the newly elected leaders from within the youth group: Leslie Ortega (President) and Aylin Bravo (Vice President).
The next youth group meetings are February 10 & 24, 3:00-4:30 PM, in the St. Mary parish hall. Pray for the continued success of our youth group.

FOOD SALE FUNDRAISER
The women’s Emaús g ro u p rec e n t ly sponsored a food sale to raise money for
families struggling with huge medical expenses. The next scheduled sale is February 17 at 3:00 PM in the St. Mary parish hall. The delicious menu will be announced soon in the bulletin and via Flocknote and Facebook.
DIOCESAN SUPPORT APPEAL
“We Are His Hands,” is the theme of the 2019 Diocesan Support Appeal. This week, you should receive a letter or postcard from Bishop Jugis asking for your generous support of the DSA. The DSA video can be viewed on our parish website, so we can all have an understanding of how the funds given to the DSA impact our diocese. Bishop Jugis asks each of us to prayerfully consider a gift to the DSA as a way of serving Christ through service to thousands of Catholics in western North Carolina.
Our parish goals are $25,781 at St. Mary and $4,350 at Christ the King. Thanks to all parishioners who helped us reach our goals last year.
GUITAR LESSONS AND SCRIPTURE STUDY
Guitar lessons in Spanish are offered Fridays 6:00-7:00 PM in the St. Mary parish hall. Immediately following the lessons, there will be a Scripture Study, also in Spanish.
SACRISTANS NEEDED
Additional Sacristans are needed at Christ the King Mission. Helping set up for Mass is an honor and blessing, and will help you appreciate the Holy Mass at a deeper level. If you are interested in applying, please contact the parish office via email at [email protected].
