St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church
It is Christ whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present
everyone perfect in Christ. —Colossians 1:28b
SIXTEENTH SUNDAY in Ordinary Time
July 21, 2019
Mission Statement St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church
is established to bring us together as a
Catholic faith community. United
with the Catholic Church throughout
the world, we proclaim our belief in
the message and mission of Jesus
Christ. We strive to live out this
belief as a community of love,
worship, and sacrament, of shared
faith and Christian education, of
compassion and service. We are
called to share the gifts and talents
among our parish community to
fulfill its mission.

A MINDSET OF SERVICE There’s a lot of traveling, delivering, and visiting going on in our readings today. In Genesis Abraham cares for the needs of three mysterious travelers. The psalm responds, celebrating the kind of righteousness that Abraham practices. Then, in his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul describes his own ministry as almost like a delivery service: he, God’s steward, brings the word of God to their community. Finally, Luke’s Gospel shares the well-known story of Mary and Martha, and the different ways they welcome Jesus into their home. Amid all this coming and going, we are invited to pay attention to the ways we tend to the needs of others. Each of us can ask, How am I present to God and others in my life? Copyright © J. S. We are grateful for your support.
Flowers on the altar this weekend are offered to The Lord in memory of †Daniel Crawford.
They are placed here by his family.
We thanked Marie Guilliams for coordinating Totus
Tuus this year. (“Coordinating” is such a small
word for all the work involved.”) But, we neglected
to thank her family for all of their help. Thank
you Vince, Carolyn, Connor, and Aiden, who helped
behind the scenes, especially with the huge task of
clean-up. Behind every good woman is a family who
is willing to help with anything to get the job done.
