Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the LordApril 4, 2021

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.— Psalm 118:17

From the Padre’s Desk: My Dear Friends: On Easter morning everything—the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the people around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music—everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness accounts in today’s scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing “Alleluia!” In the scriptures today we hear from Peter and Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about witnessing the resurrected Christ. John’s Gospel account includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privileged to witness the Resurrection and tell others the good news. On this glorious Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness accounts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives? In Christ, Father William

POPE FRANCIS NEW ENCYCLICAL “Fratelly Tutti”ON FRATERNITY AND SOCIAL FRIENDSHIP

GLOBALIZATION AND PROGRESS WITHOUT A SHARED ROADMAP

31. In this world that races ahead, yet lacks a shared roadmap, we increasingly sense that “the gap between concern for one’s personal well-being and the prosperity of the larger human family seems to be stretching to the point of complete division between individuals and human community… It is one thing to feel forced to live together, but something entirely different to value the richness and beauty of those seeds of common life that need to be sought out and cultivated”.  Technology is constantly advancing, yet “how wonderful it would be if the growth of scientific and technological innovation could come with more equality and social inclusion. How wonderful would it be, even as we discover faraway planets, to rediscover the needs of the brothers and sisters who orbit around us”.

To provide the Sanctuary Lamp that burns before the Blessed Sacrament (Suggested offering is $35.00), or to provide the parish with altar bread and wine used at the Mass (Suggested offering is $55.00). Please call the Parish office 336-599-4122

Prayer to St Michael the ArchangelSt. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.  May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

PLEASE PRAY: For our Church, Pope Francis I, and all our leaders; pray for the Holy Father’s intention that the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation between individuals and peoples may be understood and that through her testimony the Church may spread Christ’s love, the source of new humanity.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS: Father, in your plan for our salvation you Shepherd for your people. Fill your Church with the spirit of continual love. Give us more priests, worthy ministers for your altar and ardent but gentle servants of the Gospel. Grant us an increase in vocations to the Religious life. May more of your people respond to your call in a spirit of joyful generosity, may they serve your people in love by following in the footsteps of Christ, your Son, and provide by their way of life a convincing sign of your kingdom. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Mary, Mother of the Church, Pray for us.

NEWS FROM OUR PARISH www.stmaryandedward.org POPE FRANCIS EASTER MESSAGE: The Easter message of hope tells us concisely that “the crucified Jesus, none other, has risen from the dead”, Pope Francis said, adding that God the Father raised Jesus, who accomplished His saving will by taking upon Himself our weakness, infirmities, the weight of our sins, even our death. Because of this, the Pope said, “God the Father exalted Him and now Jesus Christ lives forever. He is the Lord.” The wounds Jesus bears in His hands, feet and side are “the everlasting seal of His love for us”, the Pope noted, and all who experience trials in body or spirit can find refuge in them and “receive the grace of the hope that does not disappoint.” Pope Francis.SECOND COLLECTION: The second collection for April 3 and 4, 2021 is for maintenance and repairFUNDRAISER: The winner of the 50/50 raffle is Katy Dorantes, ticket #833365, amount $945.
