All planned events must be scheduled through the church office to ensure there are no scheduling
conflicts.
Sunday, our Session approved an outreach event
for our community. It will be a Fall Festival on Sat. Sept.
16 and we need the support and help of everyone. We
want to make our church the center of our community to
introduce others to Jesus.
Community is one of those buzzwords of
today's culture. Many discuss the desire for an "authentic
community". One aspect deeply embedded in our DNA as
human beings is the desire for community. God has made
us this way for it's how the Trinity exists, in life-giving
fellowship. Not in isolation. Yet, many people live in the
isolation and it is killing hearts.
The one place on this earth where this
"authentic community" should unfold is within the
church. In its beginning, it was a koinonia, a fellowship. It
was a cluster of relationships bound by the Kingdom of
God through Jesus' coming. It is Jesus shining light and
adding meaning to the human heart making all the

guide is available, just click on the title to order online or
visit your local bookstore to get one. But you don't have
to have one to participate! Come join us!
Tithes and Offerings for the first week of July were on the
light side, most likely because of low attendance. Pledges
were very good, primarily because of an IRA distribution
that was directed to the Church. The number of IRA
distributions is increasing. Typically, you do not have to
pay taxes on these contributions. If you are interested,
please consult with your tax advisor. In the first week, we received $1,067 for the Rainy Day
Fund which will be deposited this coming Monday. If
you are able and willing to donate to this, just write Rainy
Day Fund on your check. This is over and beyond your
tithes, offerings, and pledges. Our last Presbytery Grant
goes away December 31, 2018 and our goal is to have a
six month Rainy Day Fund ($150,000) to take care of
unplanned expenses.
Quarterly (Q2) individual contribution statements will be
distributed during the first part of July.
Reminder, please use the Church Post Office Box

Mark, The Jesus We're Aching For. God's heart is moved
by your cries for help and shouts for joy. In Lisa Harper's
7-session Bible Study, The Gospel of Mark: The Jesus
We're Aching For, you'll follow Jesus through His days of
early ministry all the way to the cross. It's there we
discover what it means to be the recipients of His
excessive compassion and the very reason for His all-
consuming passion. If you are interested in attending this Bible Study, please
contact Mary Nell Yarbro at (865) 679-9246.
CPWM Ladies Retreat Our CPWM Ladies retreat will be held on
July 21-22 at the Stone Crossing subdivision clubhouse,
which is only about 1/2 mile west of the church. We have
a signup sheet in the Narthex. Please sign up so we will
know how many are coming. On Friday, we will meet at
the clubhouse first for our Bible Study. Then we will go
to Audrey Nester's house (in that subdivision) for
dinner. On Saturday, we will enjoy all meals together and
after each will be a Bible Study. There will be some free
time to enjoy as well. If you would like to volunteer to
help with this, please contact Audrey Nester at (804) 387-
0868.

Bible 101 Class Only about 40% of those who attend the Sunday Morning
Worship Service at Faith Fellowship also attend Sunday
School. If you are one of the 60% please consider
becoming part of a Sunday School Class. The members of
the Bible 101 Class would like to invite you to join us this
Sunday. We have just begun a study of the Book of
John. Gary Fox is the teacher. Bring your Bible and give
us a try.
School
Supplies Delivery to Smoky
Mountain Elementary School Each year in August, Mission of Hope (MOH) partners
with churches in the greater Knoxville area to provide
back-to-school supplies for depressed schools in rural
Appalachia. This year, 27 schools will be receiving these
school supplies. About 18,000 students will be served.
Faith Fellowship is one of these partners! Faith

Elementary School (~200 students) located just east of
Gatlinburg in Cosby, Tennessee. Basically, MOH
supplies backpacks, paper, pencils, folders, crayons,
scissors, etc., and Faith Fellowship transports the supplies
to the school, sets up, and distributes them to the
students. Typically about 25 volunteers are needed
for this. For more detail, go to:

or contact Regina Stinnett (865) 898-3001 or Jim Stinnett
(865) 556-4090. This year, we will be picking up the
supplies at Mission of Hope on August 2nd and will leave
from the church at 7 am on August 3rd. We need your
help! Also, bring a friend or neighbor. If you are
interested, please sign up on the sheet in the
Narthex. Here are photos from a previous trip.
Church-Wide Garage Sale
Oct 6-7 It's time for Spring cleaning! Our CPWM is sponsoring
another Garage Sale this fall. So we are now accepting
your unwanted items to take advantage of your Spring
cleaning. If you want to start bringing items in, you can
put them in the garage or in the Fellowship
House. Someone is in the office Monday - Thursday 9-
Noon. Or you can arrange to meet someone at an
alternate time to unlock the door. If you need a tax
receipt for your items, see Lori Rosenbloom or Regina

The residents of Kindred Nursing Home that FFCPC have
been helping are extremely pleased with their new
clothing and other items including fresh haircuts. We
have received a new list from them for additional items
they would like to have. They are in need of BINGO
prizes. For example, they could use devotion books,
inexpensive jewelry, candy, treats, books, etc. In
addition, anything for the garden in the courtyard is
great. A box is now located in the Narthex for the
collection of these items.
