F a i r f a x C o m m u n i t y R e s o u r c e s I n c . i s a non-profit organization that had begun back in September 2009, with the mission to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities who are challenged to find services.
Since inception, Fairfax (Inc.) has quickly grown in providing residential, day program, respite and foster care services for adults in over 20 specialized living situations, in and bordering Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our focus has and will always be on providing person-centered supports for individuals challenged to find services to meet their needs. This aim is aided by our industry leading employee training programs as well as the adaptation of professionally developed support approaches. The main philosophical tenets of Fairfax Community
Resources Inc. is interdependence. Our belief is that this allows the individuals we support to develop essential skills for daily living, live inclusive lives, achieve personal goals and develop natural relationships as they emerge into their rightful place within the community.
Fairfax Community Resources Inc. provides person-centered,
multidisciplinary support services to Manitobans living with
intellectual disabilities.
The basic tenets of our support philosophy requires that we
see people holistically as individuals with unique needs.
Simply translated, this means that no two support plans are
the same. To effectively support this philosophy we have de-
veloped three programs that aid us in not only delivering our
services, but are conducive to the success of each individual
exclusively. Each of the individuals that we provide services
to play an integral role in the development of their unique
and specialized support plan. These plans may include an
assessment of the individuals emotional, sociological, psycho-
logical and medical needs, as well as behavioural support
needs. Once the initial review has been completed
an individual plan with support goals are created, appropri-
ate supports are determined, a team of Direct Support Profes-
sionals is formed and a specialized living situation is devel-
oped. A more detailed description of our programs are pro-
vided below.
The mission of Fairfax Community Resources Inc. is to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities who are challenged to find services to meet their needs by providing person-centred individualized support.
Fairfax Community Resources Inc. Residential program was designed specifically to accommodate individuals who require 24 hour support. Our homes are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provide unique, tailored services to individuals. We take pride in the
environments we develop and our homes play an important role. That being said, our homes are selected based on several factors such as, community, square footage, safety, security, layout, accessibility and support goals; just to name a few. By considering these factors we are able to enhance an individuals quality of life which creates a truly holistic environment that compliments our person-centered approach. We've provided some pictures of our homes below so you can see the pride we take in community inclusion.
Our Day Program Services takes a unique approach to providing vocational options and skill building activities to adults living with an intellectual disability. This programs' main objective is the development of skills that are conducive to community living. Our team works diligently with individu-
als to create weekly plans that link directly to each individuals comprehensive support plans. Plans vary by individual, but may include, a paid employment, Fairfax hosted bingo game, arts and crafts, bowling, swimming, shopping, going to the bank, accessing community resources, attending com-munity events or just catching a good movie. The day is spent in the community or at our day site getting involved, living an inclusive life all the while developing essential living
skills.
Fairfax Community Resources Inc. Home Share Provider Program takes a completely different approach than our two other services. This program was designed to focus primarily on the profound impact that caring families can
make on the lives of vulnerable and marginalized adults.
As a contracted Home Share Provider, you and your spouse/partner will provide helpful, person-centered supports to an individual that requires a caring and nurturing family
dynamic to support them on their journey.
