Summary

Fairfax County reviews all aspects of Fairfax Connector bus service to identify areas where service to the customer can be improved.

Proposed changes for June 30, 2012 14 schedule modifications Five routing modifications New Route 981; Tysons to Dulles Airport.

South County ChangesIncreased Service

Route 101 Decreasing headway from 60 minutes to 30 minutes This means instead of one (1) bus per hour there will be two

(2) buses per hour

Routes 151 and 159 Decreasing headway from 30 minutes to 20 minutes in

commute direction This means instead of two (2) buses per hour there will be

three (3) buses per hour Toward the Huntington Metro in the AM; from Huntington

Metro in the PM

South County ChangesSchedules Adjusted

Route 171 Minor changes to the weekday schedule to help the on time

performance. Check your schedule – your bus maybe coming earlier!

Route 395 There is some shifting of departure times in the morning to

increase the number of trips between 6:30am and 7:15am Check your schedule – your bus may not be leaving at the

same time!

South County ChangesRoute 335 “The Eagle”

Route and schedule modified Route has been lengthened to 21st Street and will serve a stop

behind the hospital Provides “local” service outside the base Schedule aligned with the VRE arrivals at Franconia –

Springfield Metrorail Station The bus will no longer serve the hospital or 12th Street

Local service outside the base To Franconia – Springfield Metrorail in the AM; From

Franconia Springfield Metrorail in the PM Stops along Beulah Road Serves Morning View Neighborhood (in peak direction)

Route and schedule modified The bus will pull-in to the INOVA Fairfax Hospital Transit

Center The scheduled at the hospital and a few other stops has

been modified to allow extra time at the hospital Check your schedule – your bus may not be arriving or

leaving at the same time!

Routes 924, 926 and 929 The weekday schedules have been slightly adjusted to

improve on time performance. Check the schedule – your bus maybe coming at a different

time!

Route 950 The weekday schedules have been slightly adjusted before

7:00AM to improve the on time performance Check the schedule – your bus maybe coming at a different

time!

Route and schedule modified The route will travel in the clockwise direction through the

hospital during the peak (rush-hour) weekdays only Check the schedule – you may need to pick-up the bus on

the other side of the street on the hospital campus!

The routing change has been made to eliminate difficult left-hand turns made during the rush-hour period. This will improve the safety of route operation
