It has always been my dream toenter UM, to follow in my dad’s footsteps. The UM experience to me has been thrilling to say at the very least as I encountered new experiences each day and learnt how to problem solve. In my opinion, the cultural diversity at UM is exceptional and we learn to integrate with all races and foreign students. The Chemical Engineering degree has given me the right foundation in terms of knowledge imparted and the requisite soft skills in order for me to be industry ready.

I started with UM 5 years ago as a PASUM (Foundation Studies) student and continued on with Biomedical Engineering. I’ve had fantastic experiences at UM where I have met wonderful friends for life and the environment is very conducive for learning. I choose to study in UM because UM’s graduates have high employability rates. To summarise my experiences at UM, I have learnt to multi-task, to be professional and full of integrity, and provided me with the right skills and foundation for an excellent career ahead. In addition, the lecturers are very interactive and reachable, which is very helpful especially in early days of our degree course.

The Mechanical Engineering degree at UM has exposed me to various challenges and competitions. I participated in the Shell Eco Marathon 2016 competition and the team came out second placing, I won the first prize in an international Engineering Quiz competition that was held in India and my capstone design project won the third placing which was organized by UM Entrepreneur Club where I designed a multi-purpose product. I would highly recommend UM to potential students because of the excellent engineering curriculum and our engineering library, student friendly campus, many choices of extra circular activities and the opportunity to meet many friends. I will definitely consider Faculty of Engineering to do my postgraduate studies soon.

The last 4 years here at UM has been exceptional. The Chemical Engineering degree course has the best of both worlds, where we not only learn the basic engineering concepts but we have wide ranging electives that enable us to integrate both the engineering concepts with the right communication skills. The project presentations that we had to do was a great confidence booster and the professors are very helpful, interactive and always set us in the right direction in looking for the answers. I’ve benefited in many ways from learning here at UM and I shall be pursuing my Masters degree in Japan – an opportunity given by my lecturer at UM.

UM has very good students support facilities and the strategic location (in between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya) makes it an ideal place to study. The capstone design project and final year projects that we had to undertake was very beneficial as it allowed us to apply theory to practical. I find that UM lecturers are very professional, interactive and provide the necessary support to the students. With my UM degree, I would have a high employability factor because of that edge over the rest of the competition.

In my experience at UM, the environment is very good and the professors are very helpful, there are ample research and laboratory facilities for the students and vast amount of extra-curricular activities that allows for personal growth. The academic programs for engineering in UM are exceptional and I have learnt to be brave and charter into new areas of growth personally as well as academically. Thanks to UM, I have many memorable memories of my student days that will last a lifetime.

I choose Biomedical Engineering at UM because it has great potential to advance and is something that I am passionate about in helping the disabled to find a new lease of life with mobility. The exposure at UM Medical Centre (UMMC) in the third and fourth year of my programme was an eye opener in many ways as it helped me to bridge the gap between the theory and practical application – something which every engineer needs. The facilities at the Faculty are more than sufficient to provide that learning experience. The brainstorming sessions with our academics as part of the lecture enabled us to learn in a very interactive manner and made me understand the subject matter better. I am confident with the Engineering degree from UM, I have that extra mileage in terms of job prospects.

I choose UM because of its world rankings and well recognized & accredited degree (Washington Accord), affordable tuition fees and the programme is taught entirely in English. The facilities at UM is fantastic as it has a campus like environment, laboratories that are well equipped with high tech equipment, lecture halls and cubes that are student friendly. The internship I did with a Japanese MNC (as part of the programme) enabled me to apply the practical knowledge that I learnt and the capstone project I did exposed me to a multitude of perspectives and hands on activities in my desired major. The students are very interactive and we all worked together as a team to help each other. Not only did I learn from the best at UM, but I also gained significant soft skills such as leadership skills, communication skills (from the numerous presentations) which enabled me to be the best amongst the rest.

MuhammadHamzaBachelor of Electrical EngineeringFrom: Pakistan

UM was the first choice for me because of their world ranking which adds credibility to the degree and the reasonable tuition fees as an international student. I found the professors to very experienced, approachable and very interactive in the entire degree learning process. The Electrical Program has excellent curriculum that is comparable to degrees from first world countries. I definitely recommend UM to my friends and family back home. The international exposure at UM is phenomenal and the numerous presentations I did as part of individual/group effort has made me very confident and helped me to grow personally. The degree at UM has empowered in the right direction with the best technical knowledge and right skills required for an engineer such as leadership and time management in delivery of projects.
