SUMMARY OF BENEFITS

BANKING SERVICESTown Bank offers on-campus banking services with a branch located in the Alumni Memorial Union and convenient ATMs around campus.

BASKETBALL TICKETSAthletic tickets are available to employees, in some cases on a discounted basis. To be eligible, employees must be on the payroll as of October 1.

CHILD CAREThe Krueger Child Care Center, located on campus, serves the children of employees, providing care for children from six weeks to 5 years old and summer camp for children ages 6–12. The center is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday year-round and closed on all university holidays. Enrollment is subject to space availability. Call 414.288.5655 for more information.

CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCEMarquette offers critical illness coverage, which provides financial support when you or an eligible family member becomes seriously ill. It works to complement your medical coverage, and pays in addition to what your medical plan may or may not cover. Upon diagnosis, a lump sum amount is paid directly to you to spend however you like.

DENTAL INSURANCEMarquette offers a comprehensive dental benefit plan that includes two convenient on-campus options and a national network of dentists for preventative care, dental disease care and accidental injury.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMThe university provides employees and their family members a free, confidential and independent Employee Assistance Program through work-life service programs. Access is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTSOn behalf of its employees, Marquette negotiates discounts for car rentals, computers and software, floral services, hotels, Internet service, and vacation spots. More information is available at marquette.edu/purchasing.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTEmployees may participate in the Dependent Child Care and/or Health Care Spending plans by designating pre-tax dollars through payroll deduction. Dollars are deposited in an account and can be drawn upon to pay for eligible dependent care and/or eligible out-of-pocket health care expenses.

FLOATING HOLIDAY (full-time dental school faculty and librarians)After one year of employment, employees receiveone paid floating holiday effective January 1 ofeach year.

FUNERAL LEAVEMarquette University offers paid funeral leave toall benefit-eligible employees. In the event of a deathin a benefit-eligible employee’s immediate family, theemployee will be granted up to three days of pay toattend the funeral and to handle the affairsimmediately associated with the death. The followingand only the following are considered members of theimmediate family: spouse, children, step-children,grandchildren, parents or legal guardians, step-parents,parents-in-law, sons/daughters-in-law, brothers/sisters-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, siblings, and step-siblings.

HEALTH INSURANCEMarquette employees may choose from severalhealth care options. The university contributes asignificant portion of the premium cost, but thereis a monthly employee contribution that varies bycoverage selected. Employees have access to anational network of providers. Wellness androutine care, including baby and child well care up to age 7, are covered at 100%.

HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTEmployees enrolled in a Marquette University high deductible health plan may participate in a Health Savings Account by designating pre-tax dollars through payroll deduction. Depending on the health insurance plan you select, Marquette may also contribute funds to your account. Dollars are deposited in an account and can be drawn upon to pay for eligible health care expenses.

HOSPITAL INDEMNITY INSURANCEMarquette offers hospital indemnity coverage, which can help safeguard your finances for life’s unexpected events by providing you with a lump-sum payment that helps cover costs resulting from a hospitalization. It works to complement your medical coverage, and pays in addition to what your medical plan may or may not cover. It typically pays a flat amount upon your hospital admission and a daily amount for each day of your hospital stay, which is yours to spend however you like.

LEAVES FROM WORK Recognizing the importance of family needs anda healthy work force, Marquette provides:

Family and Medical Leave: Up to 12 weeks off work to eligible employees for medical, maternity, paternity and caretaker leaves under terms of the federal/state Family and Medical Leave Acts may be taken. Paid or unpaid (determined by accrued vacation/disabilitydays) leave may be available. The dean and thefaculty member requesting leave should worktogether to minimize the impact of the leave andany alternative duty arrangements on students and to minimize the need for replacement costs.

Personal Leave: This allows an employee, with asupervisor’s approval, to take unpaid time awayfor personal reasons for up to one year. Military Leave: In accordance with the UniformedServices Employment and Reemployment Rights Act,the university provides job-protected leave for annualreserve training and active duty.

LIBRARY PRIVILEGESAll employees have access to the Raynor Memoriallibraries and law library. The libraries house printand online reference materials, as well as a widevariety of periodicals, historical documents andspecial collections.

LIFE INSURANCEMarquette provides basic coverage equal to 100percent of an employee’s annual salary, rounded tothe next highest $1,000. With the addition of theaccidental death and dismemberment provision, thiscoverage could increase by an additional 100percent. Employees may pay for additional optionalcoverage up to three times the basic coverageavailable.

LONG-TERM CAREThe university provides access to enrollment in anoptional, discounted, comprehensive long-term careprogram for employees, family members and retirees.

LONG-TERM DISABILITYAfter six months of continuous disability, income benefits may equal up to 65 percent of an employee’s pre-disability income and may be payable for the duration of total disability, generally not beyond normal Social Security age. Employees must enroll for this benefit at the time of hire to be eligible without medical underwriting. Marquette contributes 50 percent, and the employee contributes 50 percent of the premium.

METLAWMetLaw–Hyatt Legal Plan is a voluntary group legalplan offered to benefits-eligible employees thatprovides convenient, professional legal counsel. Morethan 11,000 attorneys participate nationwide, and theaverage attorney has 23 years of legal experience.

PARKINGWell-lit, paved surface or structure parking is availableon campus for a competitive, pre-taxed monthly fee.

PERSONAL PROPERTYAND CASUALTY INSURANCEMetPay is a personal property and casualtyinsurance program available to employees on avoluntary basis. Employees can sign up for reliable,quality insurance for car, home and other personalproperty and pay through payroll deduction.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIESEmployees may use the two campus recreationalfacilities, the Rec Center and Rec Plex, for adiscounted annual membership fee.

RETIREE BENEFITSMarquette offers employees a conditional opportunityfor insurance continuation and discounts uponretirement. Retirement status is defined as 55 yearsor older with combined age and years of service equaling 70 or more. Eligible retirees pay the full premium for retiree health, dental and/or vision insurance.

RETIREMENT PLANEmployees can contribute to a supplementalretirement plan the first day of the month afteremployment. After two consecutive years of servicewith at least 1,000 hours per year and a minimumage of 21, an employee is eligible for the Marquettematching retirement plan. Marquette contributes 8percent of an employee’s base annual salary whenthe employee contributes 5 percent. The two-yearrequirement may be waived with appropriate proof ofprior service at an eligible institution.

SHORT-TERM DISABILITYThe university offers short-term disability coverage forfull-time or part-time exempt employees. Employeesaccrue one short-term disability day at 100 percentpay for every full month they work. The remainder ofleave is paid at 75 percent for up to 130 working days.

SPIRIT SHOP DISCOUNTSEmployees receive a 20 percent discount onMarquette spirit wear and sports memorabilia.

THEATRES, LECTURES AND CULTURAL EVENTSEmployees receive discounts on a variety ofon-campus events, including Marquette theatreproductions and performances/speeches by well-known individuals and groups.

TUITION REMISSIONFull-time employees and their spouses are eligible toreceive seven credit hours of free tuition at Marquettefor the fall and spring terms and eight credit hours forthe summer commencing with the beginning of a termafter their date of hire. Graduate-level tuitionremission is subject to state and federal taxes.

Dependent tuition remission benefits are alsoavailable to full-time employees. Employee eligibilitybegins the first term following the completion of fiveyears of consecutive full-time employment. Eligibledependents must meet age and dependent statusrequirements and be enrolled for on-campusdegree-seeking study on a full-time, continual basis.The employee five-year service requirement may bewaived with vested tuition remission rights fromanother eligible institution of higher education andappropriate proof of service.

VACATIONFull-time employees receive 3 weeks of vacation per year upon hire. Full-time Faculty Dentists and Faculty Librarians are eligible for 4 weeks of vacation per year upon hire. All are eligible for 5 weeks of vacation after 20 years.

VISION INSURANCEMarquette offers a comprehensive stand-alone visionplan that includes a free yearly well vision exam.A glass lenses, frames or contact lenses allowanceis also offered.

WELLNESS PROGRAMThe Marquette Employee Wellness Program seeks todevelop a culture of health and wellness and promotehealthy lifestyle choices for employees. The missionis to help Marquette employees take an increasedresponsibility for their own healthy lifestyle throughparticipation in educational programs; increasedawareness of wellness resources; and initiatives suchas exercise sessions, nutritional education, healthscreenings and health insurance incentives.

WORKER’S COMPENSATIONEmployees receive income and medical protectionfor on-the-job injuries and/or occupational illnessesas prescribed by Wisconsin state law.
