WARRANTIES AND WARNINGS We recommend proper care and maintenance so as to preserve the effect and usability of

MARLEX company products and timely prevent injury of persons and damage to property.

If you DO NOT abide by the general instructions and information from this brochure, your

warranty and guarantee may be terminated. Parts wear and difficulty of use shall not be encompassed by the guarantee and

agreed-upon warranty, regardless of whether the products are used in the proper way.

Damage arising due to inappropriate use, as well as repairs carried out by non-qualified

persons shall not be encompassed by the guarantee and warranty. MARLEX windows match the load-bearing-capacity construction requirements. The

special connection technology and special staticity requirements match the

requirements for installation into public buildings and abide by special installation rules

and regulations.

WHAT WE GUARANTEE… MARLEX windows are our own product manufactured in Croatia. You can therefore be

assured of their continuous high quality and high standard for years to come. This guarantees you as the customer that you will get real MARLEX quality and lasting value for your construction and living needs when choosing our products.

EVERYTHING IS AIMED AT ENSURING YOUR SAFETY…

You can potentially get hurt if your hand gets stuck between the window wing and frame.

You can fall out of an open window. Watch out that your children don’t get hurt!

During windy weather an open window wing can get damaged.

Don’t insert objects between the window wing and frame.

Don’t push the window wing in the direction opposite of the opening direction

(opposite of the wall).

Don’t place clothes or other items on the window wing and don’t use the wings to

climb on.

Hardware parts should be regularly inspected to see if they’re firmly fixed, if there’s

any wear and if they should be replaced.

Window and door wings should be closed and locked during strong wind.

Reduce the possibility of the window wing moving in the direction opposite of the

opening direction. The hardware parts, frame material and other parts can easily be

damaged.

Standard glass parts don’t match the requirements related protection from burglary,

fire or breaking.

Standard glass easily shatters and can be damaged.

Unlocked doors don’t provide protection from burglary.

The hardware parts are important for your safety so they need to be regularly

inspected to see if they’re firmly fixed, if they’re worn-out and if the parts should be

replaced and bolts inserted.

After installation windows should be protected with adequate cover from

mechanical, chemical and similar damage when conducting work activities related to

jamb treatment, painting and façade construction.

Self-adhesive tapes appropriate for plastic and aluminium surfaces should be used

for protection of upper surfaces. Dirt should be immediately removed from all parts without the use of aggressive

cleaning products.

An open or tilted wing position is not in accordance with the requirements related to

sealing, noise reduction, thermal insulation and burglary protection.

A closed window does not allow minimum venting which can be useful and also

necessary in terms of health and heating requirements. Windows are used to let

sunshine in, according to apartment requirements.

After rain dirt consisting of insect parts, soot, pollen and similar matter can become

thick and hard to remove with the usual cleaning products. Frame profiles with such

dirt layers should be cleaned first.

Surfaces protected with electrostatic coating, as well as inox surfaces of aluminum

parts can be irreversibly damaged if they’re washed with alkalic cleaning products.

Such window and door surfaces should be timely cleaned.

You should regularly check the cords of roller shutters for wear, as well as to reduce

the possibility of the roller shutters dropping.

The sharp edges can cause window damage if the window is handled incorrectly.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION…

All of the windows should be transported in an upright position, should be fixed in such a

way to prevent movement or dropping and each element should be positioned in such a

way so that it does not lean onto other parts. The parts can be stored in an upright position and within a secured space. Each part

should also be positioned in such a way so that it does not lean onto other parts. Bigger parts should not be put against the wall and smaller windows should not be put

against bigger parts because they create dents in them. CARPENTRY PRODUCT LIFE: LIMITLESS

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WINDOW

INSTALLATION … The installation procedure

During installation you should follow HRN standards, as well as the applicable installation

guidelines. You should also follow the installation instructions and diagrams from the

relevant MARLEX instruction manual. Installation and assembly can be carried out only by companies from the professional field which are familiarized with the legal guidelines and conduct their activities accordingly.

MARLEX shall not be liable in any way for any deficiencies caused by the customer

installing the parts on their own.

Important

You should carefully cover the glass and windows so as to reduce the possibility of

visible traces forming from the plastering procedure.

The protective layer should be removed from the profiles immediately after

installation (use only appropriate protective layers).

Stickers, labels and adhesive tapes should be removed immediately after installation.

Cement and sand in combination with water causes damage to your window

surfaces.

Cleaning products, alcohol, fuel and aggressive cleaning products should not come in

contact with plastic surfaces.

Regular venting protects the windows from the moisture formed during installation.

Fixing modes for windows

Using wall fixation devices

Using turbo bolts

SEALING OF WINDOWS… Interior window connection points

The sealing compound on the interior side of the window should be without any

cracks so as to prevent the air from entering the connection points.

This can be achieved by using a sealing layer (RAL installation) on the one side and

a sealing material such as silicon on the other side. Space at the centre of the window

The connection point at the centre of the window should be filled with insulation

material so the window can successfully keep heat and absorb noise.

Either polyurethane foam or mineral-fibre insulation (RAL installation) can be used for this purpose.

Exterior window connection points

A sealing compound resistant to wind and rain should be applied on the exterior side

of the window. The sealing compound on the exterior side consists of a diffusive

open material allowing the moist air to exit (RAL installation). Window sills

The following should be kept in mind in terms of exterior window sills: The slant

outwards should be >5%, while the sill should be at a distance from the façade of approximately 30- 40 mm with proper connection to the wall.

NOTE: MARLEX’s standard offer includes the following installation

procedure: sealing with polyurethane foam and screwing-on of

turbo bolts.

INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS – PVC WINDOWS

1. REMOVAL OF WINGS Before installation the installation opening needs to be checked. The distance between the

space and the wall has to be at least 1 (one) cm along the whole of the rim. Door handles

and other equipment are located in a special carton container or are already installed onto

the window. Before window installation the wing needs to be removed from the frame.

2. INSTALLATION OF THE WINDOW FRAME The frame is installed into a construction opening, fixed with wooden wedges and put into

a vertical, horizontal and rectangular position using a spirit-level. The frame is then fixed

using turbo bolts. If necessary, the frame can be additionally stretched using wooden

boards (used with bigger windows).

3. INSERTION OF THE WING After installation of the frame the wing needs to be put back into the frame. The wing is

positioned onto the lower hinge and is then connected to the upper hinge.

GUIDELINES FOR PROPER CARE OF WINDOWS AND DOORS

1. PVC WINDOWS Exterior surfaces are window surfaces exposed to the elements, industrial gases, exhaust

pipe gases from diesel vehicles, air pollen, dust and acid rain. All of the aforementioned

can gather on the window surface and in combination with water, dew and sun become an

aggressive agent which affects the esthetical appearance of your windows. This is why we

recommend that you remove these dirt particles once a month using generally approved

cleaning products (Čarli, Prill, Palmolive, etc.) without the use of diluents and polishing

products, as well as that you polish the profiles using a microfiber cloth, so as to now allow

the dirt particles to gather. If you follow these instructions, your MARLEX products will be

long-lasting and keep their initial appearance.

2. SEALING MATERIALS Rubber sealing materials in MARLEX PVC windows should also be protected with a special

coat for rubber materials (nitro-glycerine) once a year. The cleaning product should be

applied with the use of a clean cloth and thinly spread over the sealing material.

3. HARDWARE PARTS Hardware parts and moving parts should be lubricated with oil for hardware parts

(fine machine oil, WD40) in order to reduce friction and thereby ensure easier

movement of the parts.

4. ALUMINUM SURFACES TREATED WITH ELECTROSTATIC COATING Electrostatic coating of external surfaces provides the surfaces with a special decoration.

Constant exposure to the elements requires regular maintenance. Because of their

absorption of UV rays darker colours, such as RAL 9005 (black), 8017 (brown), 7016

(anthracite) and 6005 (green) are under more exposure than lighter colours and

therefore require greater care. Cleaning after installation: only use soft non-damaging cloths and clean water in which

you should, when necessary, add cleaning products (the usual cleaning products). After

cleaning the surfaces need to be wiped with a clean cloth and cold water. Cleaning with soft non-damaging cloths and clean water with the possible addition of a

small quantity of neutral cleaning products should be carried out at least twice a year.

Avoid rubbing. After cleaning wipe the surface using a clean cloth and cold water. Oil stains can be removed with denatured alcohol and isopropyl alcohol.

Don’t use cleaning products containing acids and alkalic components. Don’t use cleaning

products with unknown contents.

WARNING: PROTECTIVE LAYERS LEFT OVER FROM TRANSPORT SHOULD BE

IMMEDIATELY REMOVED AFTER INSTALLATION. DO NOT USE EASILY SOLUBLE

CLEANING PRODUCTS, PRODUCTS WITH SHARP EDGES, AGGRESSIVE, ACIDIC

AND ALKALIC CLEANING PRODUCTS.

VENTING At standard room temperatures the relative humidity is between 40 % and 60 %.

Greater humidity within a space can arise because of:

1. BREATHING – 1-2 litres of water per day

2. COOKING – 2 litres of water per day

3. BATHING, WASHING AND WATERING OF FLOWERS – up to 3 litres of water per day

4. CLOTHES’ DRYIN IN THE APARTMENT/HOUSE ADDITIONALLY RAISES THE AIR

HUMIDITY The amount of water produced by a three-member family amounts to 180 litres of water

a month or a full bathtub of water. If the influx of fresh air allows it, a lot of water can

remain in a room and create conditions for the appearance of mould and condensation

water.

ROOM CONDITIONS – CORRECT VENTING MODE

1. VENTING – BUT HOW? Venting brings oxygen to a room, removes excess moisture and dirt in it and prevents

condensation in the air and on glass windows. Since the space ensured to you by MARLEX

has the ideal thermal insulation capacity, it’s worth noting that special attention needs to

be paid to venting.

CONTINUOUS VENTING With tilt windows the clean hygienic air is supplied to the room after 120 minutes

(2 hours). The walls and furniture grow cold and the energy losses are great.

SHORT-TERM VENTING

With completely open windows a similar effect is achieved even after 10 minutes. This

keeps the walls and furniture from growing too cold. This mode of radiation is best if two

opposite windows are opened. Short-term venting brings multiple amounts of fresh air

while not affecting room conditions.

NOTE: SPACES WITH THEIR OWN FIRE-BOXES (FIREPLACES, GAS STOVES, HEATERS

AND THE LIKE) CONSUME A LOT OF FRESH AIR AND A PLENTIFUL FRESH-AIR FLOW

NEEDS TO BE CONSTANTLY PROVIDED.

Page 19

2.2. Artificial materials - PVC 2.2.1. MARLEX shall provide a ten-year warranty on cases of colour change in white

windows for living purposes. There shall be no warranty for grey colour caused by dirt.

The warranty shall be valid if the following instructions are observed:

Layers from industrial emissions, fine aggressive particle powder/pollen and acid

rain can form on parts extending outwards, which are under great aggressive

influence of the environment. In combination with rain and dew these layers can

cause surface damage to the appearance of the windows. For this reason any dirt on

the exterior side of the plastic window should be removed in accordance with

MARLEX’s instructions on proper care.

Damage caused by aggressive cleaning products and rubbing shall be excluded from

the warranty.

Change of colour on the external plastic surfaces caused by a chemical reaction (for

example under the influence of tiny zinc parts, asbestos façades and asbestos

windows sills) shall not be encompassed by the warranty.

2.2.2. Plastic window shall be protected from direct sunlight during storage.

2.2.3. A five-year warranty shall be provided for change of colour on the exterior surface

of the aluminum roller shutters. MARLEX shall not provide a guarantee for PVC roller

shutters. 2.2.4. The protective layer shall be removed immediately after installing the carpentry.

2.3. Artificial materials – ALUMINUM

2.3.1. MARLEX shall provide a five-year warranty on anodized surfaces and those

protected by electrostatic coating, provided that the customer follows the guidelines for

regular cleaning and cleaning twice a year.

2.3.2. Cleaning products with neutral effect and no harmful effect to anodized and

electrostatic-coating-protected layers shall be used for cleaning surfaces. 2.3.3. The difference of colour on specific anodized and electrostatic-coating-protected

sills of window frames, aluminum profiles and roller shutter guides is subject to

manufacturing and material factors and shall therefore not be within the scope of a

warranty.

2.3.4. A light discrepancy in the nuance of the colour in an aluminum structure resulting

from manufacturing shall not be encompassed by the warranty. 2.3.5. The protective layer shall be removed immediately after window installation.

Page 20

2.4. Glass 2.4.1. MARLEX shall provide a two-year warranty for cases of appearance of

condensation in the space between the glass surfaces with insulation glass (with two

or three glass surfaces). Glass surfaces, as supercooled masses, belong to the group of

fragile materials which do not allow deformities (such as plastic masses and aluminium).

When the elasticity limit is surpassed through thermal or mechanical influence, the

material immediately breaks. No warranty shall be provided for handling of the material

against the rules of the trade. 2.4.2. Setting of deviation limits is not possible due to the systemic dimensioning of

the space between the glass surfaces, cross-sections, joints and cross joints. During

opening and closing windows, as well as during sudden sharp movements in road traffic

the “ringing effect” appears. It is because of these technical reasons that the warranty shall not

be provided. 2.4.3. With external change of barometric pressure or sunlight there is the possibility of

the effect of the glass protruding and denting. Because of these physical properties and

the inability to influence them there shall be no warranty provided. 2.4.4. With insulation glass one can see the round of rectangular colour effect when

watching out the window. This is caused by the parallel position of separate glass

surfaces. Two-sided change to the lighting necessarily causes deformation of visibility.

This is why a warranty shall not be provided for such cases. 2.4.5. With 3 insulation glass surfaces sunlight rays break and reflect off of 6 glass

surfaces, resulting in a glow on a greater number of specific objects, particularly at night.

This is the physics’ phenomenon of light refraction, which shall be in no way encompassed

by the warranty.

2.4.6. Between a heating object and insulation glass there should be at least a distance of 30 cm, so as to reduce the weight load on the glass. Simultaneously a heating object

should match the width of the insulation glass and the insulation unit to achieve equal heating of the glass. When the above mentioned distance limits between the

heating body and glass are surpassed, protection from glowing shall be installed for

security reasons, otherwise MARLEX shall not provide a guarantee for insulation glass.

2.4.7. During glass manufacturing insertions, bubbles, mole-like forms, lines, etc. may

appear – at a glass surface of less of 1 m2 a maximum of4 pieces may form, while with

glass surfaces greater than 1 m2 1 piece with a diameter of 3 mm for each running

meter of the edge may form.

2.4.8. Condensation on glass surfaces arises out of its own accord in windows with a

highly thermal insulating glass in the morning at high humidity levels. The cause of this is

the fact that the temperature of the glass surface at night is lower than the ambient

temperature due to high thermal insulation. This means that it’s difficult for the exterior

glass to reach the interior temperature because of the great thermal insulation of the

insulation glasses. In the morning hours the external air can warm somewhat more

quickly than the exterior window glass. Due to high humidity condensation forms on the

glass. With increased glass heating the fogginess (dew) fades. This phenomenon present

in our thermal insulation is proof of its excellence. The condensation on the exterior and

interior glass of the insulation glass unit is subject to physical process and shall not be

within the scope of the complaint procedure.

Page 21: FACTORY FOR PVC CARPENTRY, ALUMINUM LOCK PARTS AND … · You should regularly check the cords of roller shutters for wear, as well as to reduce the possibility of the roller shutters

www.marlex.hr

Page 21

2.4.9. Because of the humidity the wet glass surface, with its various degrees of

smoothness and sliding, fingerprint traces, various stickers, paper forms, paperboard

and such, can cause distortion of the view. Dew, rain and cleaning water can be

visible in the form of humidity. This phenomenon is a characteristic trait and shall not

be encompassed by the guarantee.

2.4.10. The colour of the glass. Because of the constant improvements introduced to the

glass industry along with heating protection processes it is possible that the colour of

glass surfaces which are ordered after the initial purchase have a slight variation in

colour. This is something MARLEX shall not be liable for and therefore it shall not be

possible to submit a complaint regarding this. 2.4.11. Due to the use of specific materials crack-like images cannot be avoided and

complaints based on the aforementioned shall not be acknowledged. Crack-like images

in installed windows shall not be encompassed by the warranty and guarantee. 2.4.12. The spacer positioned between the glass surfaces allows a deviation in parallelism

depending on the glass edges and equals +/- 2.5 mm. The limit value shall not apply to special

parts. 2.4.13. Butyl (the sealing compound mass) may be protruded within the space between the glass surfaces by 1 mm.
