A Socially Responsible Supply Chain Human trafficking is a growing multi billion dollar business, enslaving 14+ million people in forced labor exploitation (ILO 2005, 2012). Factories, plantations, and other industrial zones are among the main recruitment locations used by traffickers. Many workers are trafficked with the promise of better jobs or other false pretenses at great financial and human resource costs. The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights established that all companies have a responsibility to respect human rights. This responsibility extends to conducting due diligence on the company’s business relationships, including its suppliers, with regards to the issue of human trafficking.
Our Solution The Factory Awareness to Counter Trafficking (FACT) program offers a series of workshops for factory managers and workers to raise awareness about trafficking prevention in the supply chain. FACT seeks to: Raise awareness and increase access to information about safe migration Build capability to recognize debt bondage and other forms of human trafficking for workers
and managers Collaborate with employers towards good practice in labor recruiting and retention
