FREQUENTLY ASKEDQUESTIONSWhat if my child becomes ill or gets injured while at

camp? If your child becomes ill while at camp, our staff

will contact you to pick him or her up. Camp is not

designed to handle ill children, so it is important to

tend to your child in a timely manner. If your child is

injured, the staff will take whatever steps necessary to

obtain medical care. If we are unable to reach you and

your child needs medical attention, she or he will be

transported to the hospital by ambulance.

What if I need to pick up my child early? Or drop off

late? Our staff does their best to accommodate late

arrivals and early departures. Please communicate with

your child’s camp director or make arrangements with

our staff so they know in advance. Note: For field trips

we cannot wait for late children due to arrival

reservations with the vendors.

What camps have additional waivers? How do I get

them? Every summer, a handful of our specialty

programs and field trip locations require additional

waivers. You will receive them with your calendar. If

you need one sent or faxed to you, please contact the

camp/child care office. Calenders and waivers will be

online and you will be able to print the forms yourself.

The camp I want to register for is already full. Is

there a waitlist? When a camp fills up, the system will

create a waitlist. We will call the waitlist when a space

becomes available. The first to respond will be enrolled.

I only need to send my child to camp a few days a

week. Will you prorate fees? We believe that a true

camp experience is a week-long experience.

Unfortunately, we cannot prorate fees for any reason

because we pay our vendors and assign staff for

the week.

Will sunscreen be applied to my child throughout the day? Of course! We count on parents to apply sunscreen before children come to camp. We willremind campers to apply sunscreen at snack time, lunchtime and in the early afternoon. Children in 4thgrade and up apply their own sunscreen.

Each child needs to bring a supply of sunscreen forthemselves. If you do not want sunscreen applied toyour children please fill out the form. If your childburns easily, he or she may need to bring some additional protective gear like a hat, t-shirt or rashguard that he or she can wear while participating inoutdoor activities.

How much instruction will my child receive in his orher Specialty Program? Please remember, you are signing up your child to attend a camp, not a sportsclinic. Our specialty programs are designed to teachself-esteem, leadership, teamwork and character values. They will execute drills, learn new techniques, play games and practice the sport. Depending on the vendor, campers may have specialty time for 1.5-6 hours. The remainder of the day is filled withfun, interactive activities provided by our staff. Always remember, if your child would like more intensive instruction, encourage him or her to ask thecamp staff!

What should my child bring to day camp?

• Sack lunch with non-perishable items only (soft lunch coolers work better than paper bags).

• Swimsuit and towel (varies depending on specificcamp’s weekly schedule).

• Sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and other protectionfrom the sun (hat, visor, etc.).

• Please label all belongings. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
