Description:

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. An esthetician grade, sterile blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently“shave off ” dead skin cells from the epidermis. Maximum results are obtained by participating in a series of treatments plus following a home care regimen.

Facial Protocols


Contraindications:

Although it is impossible to list every potential risk and complication, the following conditions are recognized ascon-traindications for Dermaplaning treatment and must be disclosed prior to treatment.

Absolute contraindications include:

• Active acne• Active infection of any type, such as herpes simplex

or flat warts.• Any raised lesions• Any recent chemical peel procedure• Chemotherapy or radiation• Eczema or dermatitis• Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid

formation• Hemophilia• Hormonal therapy that produces thick pigmentation• Moles• Oral blood thinner medications• Pregnancy• Recent use of topical agents such as glycolic acids,

alpha-hydroxy acids and Retin-A

• Rosacea• Scleroderma• Skin Cancer• Sunburn• Tattoos• Telangiectasia/erythema may be worsened or

brought out by exfoliation• Thick, dark facial hair• Uncontrolled diabetes• Use of Accutane within the last year• Vascular lesions

Facial Protocols


Introduction:

Introduce ExPürtise to the client – products that are all about results without any controversial ingredients likeparabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, no synthetic colors or (most importantly) fragrances. They pair the best anti-aging ingredients like peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamins and antioxidants with a significant variety of organic ingredients. ExPürtise offers the ideal blend of the organic and anti-aging skincare philosophies.

Cleanse:

1. Remove eye makeup with eye makeup remover. Note: ½ pump undiluted ExPürtise Ultra Purifying Cleanserwill remove eye makeup.

2. Dampen cotton rounds and cleanse entire face with 1-2 pumps ExPürtise Ultra Purifying Cleanser.3. Rinse with warm water using facial sponges.

Dry Skin:

1. Allow skin to dry completely2. A toner can be applied to accelerate drying

Dermaplaning Treatment:

1. Hold skin taut with one hand, hold blade in other hand at a 45 degree angle against skin, shaving upwards.2. Repeat over desired areas.

Mask:

1. Apply ¾ tablespoon ExPürtise Selfie Mask to face and neck. Note: A thicker application will allow for a longerset time.

2. Allow mask to set 5-10 minutes taking special care not to over-dry (this can irritate skin).3. Instruct client to relax and breathe deeply – in through the nose, out through the mouth. Note to client that

ExPürtise Selfie Mask contains aromatherapy ingredients: Sandalwood Extract calms and increases mental claritywhile Ginger Essential Oil promotes an overall sense of peace and wellbeing.

4. While mask is setting, perform hand and arm massage.5. Wrap the face with a warm steamed towel and allow to set for 3-5 minutes before removing mask. Use facial

sponges if needed to remove any excess mask.

Facial Protocols


Treat, Moisturize / Protect:

1. Massage (1 pump) ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Face Serum into face.2. Apply (1/2 pump) ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Eye Serum divided between each eye and gently tap product

around eye area.3. Apply (1 and ½ pump) ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Face Treatment into face, neck and décolleté. Mention

again how ExPürtise only uses natural extracts in their products, no synthetic fragrances.

Note: Avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure during first 12 hours.

Post Treatment Instructions:

• Use ExPürtise Ultra Purifying Cleanser and apply ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Face Treatment at least twice daily for a minimum of 7 days post treatment.• Apply ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Face Serum as absorption levels will be elevated• Avoid sun exposure as much as possible for a minimum of 3 days post treatment. If you must be in the sun, apply SPF 30 or greater, reapply often, wear a wide

brimmed hat, and seek shade when possible.• Be careful of sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily for 2 weeks.• Avoid excessive heat 3 days post treatment, i.e. heavy workouts, steam rooms or saunas, etc.• Avoid chlorine for 24 hours.• Avoid facial waxing for 7 days.• Avoid Dermal Fillers or Botox for 2 to 4 weeks based on area.• Do not pick, scratch, or aggressively rub the treated area.• No scrubs, polishers, or aggressive brushes should be used for 7 to 14 days.• You may experience slight peeling for the first few days. Slight windburn sensation and/or blotchiness are normal for the first few days. Skin care products may tingle

or slightly burn for the first 2 days.• For best results, Dermaplaning treatments are recommended every 3‐5 weeks.
