Welcome to the Spring 2015 edition of our Property Review.We hope you enjoyed the last edition of the Property Review released April 2015. We are proud to report that over 60% of the properties featured in that edition have since been let or sold.

Q. What is the best part of the job?

Meeting people, hearing their interesting stories, and developing relationships. There is plenty of diversity, motives, and opinions when it comes to industrial and commercial real estate and some clients are really engaging.

Q. How did you come to work in the industry?

I had family ties to Facey, given my father Terry’s history here, and had often thought of making the transition over the years. After 10 years in marketing it was time to give up the frequent travel and long commutes into inner Melbourne, and see if real estate was as dynamic as I hoped. No regrets.

Q. If you could give one tip, what would it be?

‘Go with your gut instinct’ - If something feels wrong, it probably is.

Q. Do you have a nickname?

Mo. There were three Matt’s at Facey when I started, and there needed to be a quick way of getting the right Matt’s attention.

Q. Do you have a pet?

No, four sons are enough!

Q. I wish I was better at..

Golf.

Q. What was the last concert you went to?

P!NK (Don’t laugh, it was a great show!)

Oysters... and Collingwood.

The best part of my job is the people I work with. And, as boring as it sounds, I really love the routine of the job I do, I enjoy processing things in precise order and the sequence of the tasks I complete day to day.

Be Kind. You don’t know what anyone else’s story is.

Yes! A gorgeous Border Collie called Benson.

As a kid I was ridiculously good at athletics. Javelin, discus and hurdles - I was great at them!

Singing. My husband is a singer in a band and I am pretty envious that he can just belt out a tune and sound great.

Miley Cyrus. Pretty controversial, right? But she was excellent, really amazing.

Q. What are your interests outside of work?

A good book! I’m loving John Green’s novels at the moment. I also enjoy being active, going to the gym. My passion is travel, I am looking forward to going back to America again soon.

Q. One thing I love that everyone else dislikes is...

One Direction! And not even because they are cute, I actually really like their music. And no one else seems to..?

Good Charlotte. I still love that album to this day.

I started in the industry in 1989 conducting building progress inspections. Then, while I was undertaking a Bachelor of Business (Property) at Uni, I became a cadet property valuer. Once I completed uni, I worked as a valuer until 2004 when I started at Facey. My family had a property business and I was always interested in property as a child - It was a natural progression to be within the industry.

Q. Do you have a pet?

Yes, a cat. Called Fiddy - short for ‘Fifty shades of Grey’.

Q. Do you have a secret talent?

My secret talent would be the ability to perform Reiki - I don’t think anyone really knows about that. And, I’m also a bit of a comedian - but everyone knows about that!

Q. What are your interests outside of work? What are you a big fan of?

My family. Then surfing, skiing, snowboarding and the footy.

The best thing about my job is the variety - it’s always busy and there are lots of different things happening all the time. It seems as though no two days are the same! I also enjoy the ongoing client relationships that I’ve built - some of my clients have become my friends. Another great thing about my job is the team here, and especially my boss (Chad Kendall), he is an excellent leader.

Be humble. And, treat everyone the same as how you would like to be treated.

Skiing and Snowboarding. I picked it up really easily without a great deal of training.

An Italian dish called ‘Carpaccio’ the meat in it is raw, and everyone hates it but me.

When I was 12 or 13, I bought a Jovanotti album. It’s Italian rap music! My taste has changed a little now - and so has that band, they don’t do rap music any more.

Q. What are your interests outside of work?

I love sport - soccer, tennis, basketball, running, snowboarding and motocross to name a few.

Q. What was the last concert you went to?

I can’t remember the last concert I went to, but I do remember taking my little brother to his first concert when I was 19 and he was 13 in Italy. We went to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It was such a memorable experience because it was such a big crowd and my brother somehow lost one of his shoes! We never found it again .... !
