It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Pakistan, Syria, the People's Republic of China,, , and North Korea. It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service.Facebook's privacy has also been an issue, and the safety of their users has been compromised several times. Microsoft is Facebook's exclusive partner for serving banner advertising, Facebook collects as much data from its visitors as Google and Microsoft, but considerably less than Yahoo! In 2010, the security team began expanding its efforts to counter threats and terrorism from users. On November 6, 2007, Facebook launched Facebook Beacon, which was an ultimately failed attempt to advertise to friends of users using the knowledge of what purchases friends made.     Facebook ILS

Facebook rolls out interactive Live Stream Box Category: Social Media

June 25th 09, 14:00

Facebook has launched a new offering allowing developers to create and embed a live stream from the social network into their own websites.

The Live Stream Box was first used by CNN during the inauguration of Barack Obama earlier this year and allowed Facebook users to share their status updates and comments in real-time along CNN's video stream of the event.

Now all website owners are able to embed similar interactive boxes into their sites for a variety of purposes, including enabling comments alongside video streaming content or in multiplayer games, for example.

Tom Whitnah of Facebook explained in a blog post that users log in using Facebook Connect and simultaneously share updates in the Live Stream Box and on their profiles, with each post linking back to the Live Stream Box.

"The Live Stream Box includes a tab to see updates from everyone who is posting on the event from across the web, as well as a filter for a user to view just their friends' updates," he added.

Facebook has also this week started to trial a new feature allowing users to make individual posts made via the Publisher feature public or private as they please.
