Today, approximately 45 agencies are actively involved in the network. Funding was been secured for a Family Violence Network Coordinator who is housed within the host agency – Hutt Union & Community Health Services (HUCHS).
It is timely for Network agencies to start thinking strategically about the direction of the Network. In November 2011, the network was rebranded as Āhuru Mōwai O Te Awakairangi.
The name reflects the future direction of the Network; the phrase āhuru mōwai means a calm, sheltered haven, Awakairangi is the original name of the Hutt Valley. The key to change has to be sustainable in the future, and what better way to envision that future than to move towards prevention.
