The Magazine 2XPOS Fashion & Beauty Greetings from Darryl!

I started Lowcountryexposure in 2006 after my return from Kuwait for the final time. We wanted to offer a 21st century type of service to the Models, one with video and photos to show to prospective clients.

I began to assemble a team of talents to provide the video, photo, makeup, model coaching and fashion design. Thettra is the makeup talent; Shirley is the model coach and fashion tal-ent, Dana Gipson provided model coaching and fashion show experience. Kevin and Carminsky brought to our organization the video skills.

We now offer that expertise to the market for local models to be able to utilize. Low country exposure seminar provides training, education and networking for those in the fashion and beauty industry.

We bring further exposure to those who have made our 6 pre-vious Fashion and Beauty Seminars a success. We will publish an on-line magazine that showcase those persons and their talents. We will showcase others in the Fashion and Beauty Industry as well. We hope to be the source for information and 2XPOS you to the world. Thanks to all who have supported and participated our Seminars.

Best Regards,

Darryl H.V. Goodman

Chiropractic: More than Back Pain and Car Accidents

Pain is a great motivator. This is a statement I picked up from a chiropractor whose office I was working in prior to starting my own practice. It is a very true statement. Unfortunately, this idea takes away from the full potential of chiropractic care. If I were asked to give the top three call words of chiropractic in order of importance my answer would be prevention, maintenance, and then pain management. My reasoning would be as follows: the spine is a very important component of the musculoskeletal system. It serves as a part of the axial skeleton which is the foundation of the rest of the body. The spine also provides flexibility, movement, and structural resistance against gravity with segments (vertebrae) that move independently of each other and soft tissue between these segments (discs) that serve as shock absorbers. Last, but definitely not least, the spine provides protection for an important part of our nervous system, the spinal cord. The nervous system takes messages back and forth between our brains and every cell, tissue, organ, and system in our bodies. So while it’s true that pain is a great motivator it is also clear that everyone with a spine (100% of earth’s population) would benefit from chiropractic care. I know that was a pretty technical explanation, but keep reading…please! The next logical question is why?

Let’s take your typical stylist for example. A stylist is on his or her feet for at least eight hours a day. Added to that is repetitive motions, bending over, excessive use of the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, etc. Anatomically the shoulders connect to the lower neck and upper back (give or take a couple of structures). Now you have the lower back (aka lumbar spine), mid/upper back (thoracic spine), and neck (cervical spine) under constant stress for at least eight hours. Please be aware that I’m saying at least eight hours. We all know that a busy stylist can easily work for ten to twelve hours a day. In this case doesn’t it make sense to invest in chiropractic care to keep the spine in proper align ment before pain sets in? (And believe me chiropractic care is way cheaper than back surgery!) In other words, you are preventing pain. Once you have started a care plan, visits will become part of a routine. Now you are maintaining the prevention of that pain. At this point, aches and pains should be minimal at best, but if the body does starts to ache, your chiropractor will be able to manage your pain easily. Now you have a better understanding of prevention, maintenance, and pain management. The last logical question should be how?

28

Page 31: Faashion Magazine

Pain may be a great motivator, but the prevention of pain and an op-portunity for optimal health should be an even greater one. As you con-template your next hairstyle or fashion trend take some time to consult a chiropractor. You and your spine will be glad you did!

Chiropractors are the only trained professionals in the location, analysis, and correction of vertebral subluxations. Vertebral sublux-whats? (I can read minds sometimes!) A luxation is a complete dislocation of anyjoint in the body. The prefix sub- means below or less than. The word vertebral means pertaining to the verte-brae. So, in layman’s terms, a chiropractor finds, interprets, and corrects any spinal misalignment (a misalignment is less traumatic than a total dislocation). Your first couple of visits encompasses the location and analysis. Your chiropractor will listen to your concerns, perform a brief but thorough exam, and possibly take x-rays to support his findings. X-rays are important because they give the opportunity for your chiropractor (and you hopefully) to visualize misalignments present in the different regions of your spine. At this point, your chiropractor can recommend a plan of care tailor-made to what’s going on with your body. This plan of care will be designed to provide you with the best pathway to proper spinal alignment. The actual work of improving your alignment will be accomplished with adjustments to the spine. These adjustments are most often made manually, but they can also be achieved with different instruments. Your chiropractor will use various checks, anatomical landmarks, and feedback from you to determine how you are responding to care. It is also your chiropractor’s responsibility to instruct you in stretches, proper posture, and exercises that will preserve your optimal alignment.
