FAAMA NEW LEADER TRAINING

• New Leader Training – Chapter By-Laws

• Purpose: Establishes Association Regulations for:

• Legal document establishing the relationship to the FAAMA

• Binds the officers and members legally

• Sets qualifications for membership

• Sets qualifications for officers

• Sets the chapter’s dues structure

• Determines who can represent the chapter at the national convention

• Establishes Chapter Meeting Protocol

• Meetings should be held at least quarterly

• Maintain and publish minutes, which include vote totals, etc.

• Publish minutes for all members

• Make minutes available to the Association Secretary upon request

• Robert’s Rules of Order (latest revision) is required

• Note to reader: If your Chapter does not currently have by-laws, please discuss with your Regional Director immediately.

Robust communication energizes members and adds value to their dues

Forward FAAMA National emails to members

Disseminate local email information to members

Solicit ideas and feedback from membership

Identify and forward new leadership ideas and concepts to membership and your Regional Director

Schedule regular meetings with facility management teams

Your relationship investments with facility leadership will determine your level of influence and success.

Build and Maintain Committees (Teams) - energize the Chapter by increasing member participation – build Chapter ownership

Chapter Executive Board – Delegate duties, solicit ideas

Create committees as needed - For example:

Election Committee (Nomination) – Manages Chapter officer nominations and elections.

Budget Committee – Creates annual budgets

By-Laws, Strategic Planning Committees – Creates proposed by-laws and Strategic plan update recommendations

Meeting Committee – Plans meetings and annual social engagements

Solicit and use local speakers (e.g., Mayor, Members of Congress, Business leaders)
