THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Mass IntentionsMass IntentionsMass IntentionsMass Intentions Dear Friends of Holy Spirit, As you read this letter, remember that Fr. Chris’ Farewell Reception is on Sunday (30th) at 3:30, begin-ning in church and then proceeding outside for food, refreshments and the chance to greet Fr. Chris. All are welcome. Sometimes we need to be more active in our faith. There are two issues before us for which I would ask you to step forward. Our American bishops have called for a “Fortnight for Freedom”, a two-week peri-od of prayer and action from June 21 through July 4th, to address many current challenges to religious liber-ty, including the August 1, 2013 deadline for religious organizations to comply with an unjust coercive man-date from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide employees with health care plans covering free contraceptives, sterilizations, and abor-tion-inducing drugs. While we support a plan for healthcare for all, that plan should not force people to provide health options that go against one’s con-science and religion. We are asked to offer prayer each day for a change in this mandate. Second, there is also a major issue before the Sen-ate on immigration. The present “bill” would offer a prolonged path to citizenship and would increase bor-der security. The cost to the individual immigrant is large (thousands of dollars) and the requirements are high. Yet, I believe the bill is necessary as a step for-ward. I support its passage. I wish you could hear the stories of our Catholic brothers and sisters who are here from Central America. Many of them comes from serious poverty, political corruption or severe drug violence. For most of them, the legal path has not been possible (the ex-pense is extremely high and the wait involves years). What can you do? If you call 1-888-979-7506, there is an easy menu to leave a message for either Senator Coats or Senator Donnelly, asking for the passage of the immigration bill and a change in the Health and Human Service’s mandate. God’s Blessings and Love,
NURSE MINISTRY

If your Ministry can make a commitment please call Dave Andres at 894-8530.

Booths that are owned and operated by the Poor Jack Amusement Company will not accept these chips as legal tender and will only accept cash or pre-sale ride tickets.
