F4W ’16 was a very enjoyable event, held for the second year running in the spacious 800sq.m Rum Warehouse attached to the Titanic Hotel Liverpool. Visitors from independent wallpaper stores across the UK were full of praise for the venue, the relaxed atmosphere, and wide variety of new wallpaper ranges on offer from the eight F4W suppliers.

Those who attended the champagne reception, gala dinner and DJ entertainment enjoyed a wonderful evening after the show, with good food, convivial company and the traditional warm hospitality of the Fashion4Walls sponsors. Some enjoyed a spot of karaoke singing too, along with the Music Through the Decades entertainment – bravo! And congratulations also to the three winners of our F4W prize draw announced after the dinner – see opposite.

All the suppliers would like to thank their customers who came to both the Titanic Liverpool event and the F4W Northern Ireland show, held the following week at the Hilton Belfast Templepatrick Golf and Country Club. We are now starting to plan the 2017 events – watch out in the next F4W Newsletters for venue and date announcements.

Another great F4W show – thanks for your support!Fashion4Walls returned to the very popular venue of the Titanic Hotel Liverpool on August 31 for its 11th show, voted a great success. All the suppliers would like to say a big thank you to all customers who visited, and we’re looking forward to seeing you at next year’s show!

A VERY WELL-ATTENDED SHOWSimon Miller, director, Belgravia Decor, joint organiser, F4W 2016:

Fashion4Walls 2016 was a great show once again! On behalf of all eight F4W suppliers exhibiting at the very popular venue of the Titanic Liverpool for the second year running, I’d like to thank all the customers who visited us for their support.

Considering the quiet summer, it was a very-well attended show, and we’ve seen good follow-up interest and orders in the weeks afterwards. Business is starting to pick up - a positive sign going forward for the new autumn season.”

Alan Dowd, sales director, Holden Decor, joint organiser, F4W 2016:

Just to reiterate Simon’s comments, can I give a big thank you to all our customers who attended F4W ‘16 in Liverpool? It was nice to see that we can get customers from as far away as Lerwick coming to the show. All the suppliers really appreciate the effort you all make.

And the rumour is true about Mark Metcalfe’s gala dinner jacket! It was on e-Bay but failed to reach the asking price of £9.99. You can preview Mark’s Spring/Autumn 2017 fashion collection the second week of January at the next Heimtex show in Frankfurt. Once again, THANK YOU ALL.”

Mark Metcalfe, managing director, Rasch UK

I have to confess, given how difficult trade during the summer had been for most retailers, large and small, that this gave me a slight feeling of trepidation as the show approached.

However, I should have been more positive, because as in previous years the trade came out again to support us, and for that I give everyone a big thanks. I would also like to pass on my sincere thanks to Simon Miller and Alan Dowd for organising another successful event.”

F4W ’16 show new ranges highlightsThere was plenty of design variety in the new collections on show from suppliers at F4W ’16 offering a great choice of wallcoverings, many with an extra ‘wow’ factor to excite home decorators this autumn.

Wallpaper’s continuing love affair with shimmer, glitter and shine for creating opulent and luxurious decor looks was a strong theme, with a good selection of new added-value heavyweight vinyl ranges enhanced by subtle glitter or mica. Contemporary updates for classic damasks and fresh treatments for natural inspired designs were popular too, together with beautiful new shimmering plains.

Also well-received were collections of stylish geometrics and distinctive textures, plus further additions to the novelty/quirky/retro/realistic effects categories. And while there wasn’t much evidence of big changes in design direction - it was more a case of evolution than revolution - several ranges offered designs with a difference that are ideal as standout statements for in-store or window displays.

Highlights from the new ranges, including those that received the best responses at F4W, are pictured here, in the following pages of show reviews, and on the back cover.

ANOTHER GREAT SHOW!Retailers tell us how much they enjoyed visiting F4W 2016.

Roy Kelly, Wallpaper Warehouse, Coventry I really enjoyed Fashion4Walls, and found it very worthwhile. It’s

only the second time I’ve been – my first visit was many years ago, and I think the show has developed a lot since then. I wasn’t expecting to place orders, but I did. The venue was wonderful, and the gala dinner great fun. All in all, I was very impressed, and I hope to go to the show again next year.

Michael Spencer, Harrison Hargreaves, Malton Fashion4Walls was very good. It’s the first time I’ve been, and

I thought the venue was excellent and the show very well organised. I think it offers a great opportunity for interconnectivity between buyers and sellers, and I found it very beneficial to meet and talk to other retailers as well as representatives. It was good to get an overview of what’s on offer, and I bought a lot!

Frank Johnson, Wear Valley Decorating Centre, Bishop Auckland

I always enjoy Fashion4Walls – we’ve been to the last six or seven shows and they are excellent. We love the Titanic – it’s a brilliant venue, with a nice atmosphere for the show and the dinner. It’s an opportunity to see all the suppliers in one day. It’s good of them to put the show on, and we know it takes some organising!

Ricky Denman, Classique Home Improvements, Mexborough

I thought the venue and the show were very good - everyone had something different, and we found plenty of new stock to buy! We were looking for some nice Italian vinyls, stripes and good quality papers, and hopefully what we ordered will sell well.

Ashley Gibson, DIY Trading, Washington The Titanic is our favourite venue for the show – we can’t fault

it. It’s always worthwhile to visit Fashion4Walls, and every supplier had something of interest. We particularly liked some of the new heavyweight vinyl ranges that had a real ‘wow’ factor.

Brian Mills, Timbermills, Cumnock We’ve been going to Fashion4Walls for many years, and the

show has just got better and better. It’s a four and a half hour drive for us to get there, so our visit has to be worthwhile, and it is. It’s good to be able to see all the companies together in a place that’s away from the store, but at the end of the day the suppliers need to have the right products – and what we saw was good.

John Nickels, Masseys DIY, Swadlincote This was our first visit to Fashion4Walls, and we found it well

worthwhile. The venue was excellent, and we enjoyed the show and the gala dinner. It was a good opportunity to see all the suppliers together. We’re now looking forward to selling some good new ranges as the autumn decorating season starts.

Mark Taylor, West End DIY, Corby The Titanic is a fabulous venue, and we enjoyed our visit to the

show. It’s always good to see all the suppliers in one place, and we bought some new products. As there wasn’t a big change in design direction, it will be interesting to see what might come next.

A. S. Creation At F4W ‘16 we showcased our broad offer in a choice of substrates and designs. We had particularly good feedback for Opulence, Royal and Titanium - all have something different for retailers, who are increasingly looking to avoid duplication in their stores.

Colemans The new colourings added to our very successful Colors Premium collection of heavyweight vinyls got an excellent response at the

show, as did Gina, a set of good value contemporary patterns, and Altagamma Home 2, featuring soft city designs and plains.

Belgravia DecorCustomer feedback and sales from F4W ‘16 showed our new wallcoverings to be very popular across the board, with our naturally inspired collections such as Monte Verde attracting particular interest. Also well received was Greenwich, a small-scale geometric, reminiscent of woven leaves.

Opulence. Jasmine in soft grey/beige.

Altagamma Home 2.

New glitzy black Clara Flock.

Shimmer in ivory.

Monte Verde in sage. Wentworth damask in duck egg.

Debona At the show we had a great response to Jasmine, a striking contemporary pattern of stylised leaves, plus PAW Patrol from our new range of licensed wallpapers for children’s rooms.

Fine DecorWentworth, our new collection of textured vinyl designs with glitter, was very popular at the show. The new Novelty range also got plenty of interest, particularly Safari, Football, Hearts and Frames.

Holden Decor The new glitter-enhanced colourways of Clara Damask, especially the new charcoal, and new black Clara Flock were very popular at F4W ’16.There was also much interest in the new Zena textured set, and the new quirky papers drew a lot of attention, led by Cacti.

MurivaWe had the best response to Shimmer, shown earlier in the F4W Newsletter Show Preview, and to Glitter Sequins from the new Lipsy collection. People just love things that sparkle!

RaschOur new Revival geometric wallpaper range of three Scandinavian-influenced designs in a retro colour palette had the best response at F4W ‘16. Also very popular were our new glitter Stags’ Heads, and the Roberto Geissini glitter Skulls wallpaper.Revival Floral in orange.

Contrasting styles and kids’ ranges

New fashion collection and lovely embosses

Leading off the latest launches at F4W ’16, Jasmine is a striking contemporary pattern of stylised leaves. This new on-trend wallpaper comes in bold or softer colourways on a white ground, with a choice of combinations: terracotta, grey-blue, mustard and chocolate, or beige, sable and greys.

Another well-received introduction was Jewel, a screen-printed blown vinyl with a curvy geometric diamond design in white or silver with glitter. Also in demand was Crystal Damask, the latest addition to the popular Crystal vinyl collection, which coordinates with the existing textures and stripes. This medallion-style damask comes in a choice of in three ways.

Debona’s new licensed wallpapers for children’s rooms proved a great success. Emoji features the well-known smiley faces used widely in text messages, and the new PAW Patrol is patterned with action shots of the popular TV show characters. Matching bedwear is available through Dreamtex.

Lipsy® is a young British fashion brand that has successfully collaborated with international celebrities such as the Kardashians, Ariana Grande and Michelle Keegan. It is now extending into home decor with a collection of glamorous wallpapers, exclusively distributed by Muriva in the UK and Eire.

There are three Lipsy® ranges: Glitter Sequins, an allover metallic and glitter sequin design with a luxurious look; Metallic Wood, faux panelling with pearlised ink; and Luxe Texture, a vinyl with a shimmering fabric effect and an emboss to suggest tiny pearls.

Amelia, the latest addition to Muriva’s exclusive Mylar® vinyls range, offers three stunning designs: Amelia Floral, an open trail of lilies with fluttering butterflies; Amelia Butterfly, showing the butterfly as its own open motif; and Amelia Texture, with an intricate emboss, keying in with the big design trend for hammered metals.

Florals are an enduring trend in wallpaper, and the new Aurora range offers a contemporary take on classic flowers, showing them in almost photographic detail in muted tones.

Additions to the novelty range of wallpapers include Vintage Garden, with detailed botanical images, antique garden lanterns and vintage posters. Also new is Wooden Hearts, an arrangement of hearts in different shapes and tones together with keys, musical notes and the letters L-O-V-E.

Debona’s new ranges offer a variety of contrasting design styles plus colourful new licensed wallpapers for kids’ rooms.

Focus on Italian in-register vinyls

Fresh twists on classics and trend-inspired sets

The stylish simplicity of Monte Verde was very well received. This flowing leaf trail offers a popular combination of glitter and natural textures.

Flavia, another popular new in-register vinyl collection, features painterly leaves and long-stemmed flowers on a backdrop of shimmering folds. Enriched by glitter and a complementary emboss, it has a sophisticated coordinating texture in cream or silver.

Also new at the show, Jewel highlights an elegant statement motif and coordinating texture. Studded with lustrous pearls and glittering accents with a tactile emboss, this Italian in-register vinyl collection offers a contemporary interpretation of a classic ornamental style.

Trieste, launched this summer, is a versatile and hardwearing collection, luxuriously embellished with generous hints of glitter. With elegant scrolls and floral motifs, it features an exquisite emboss simulating the finest couched thread embroidery on a delicate silk background.

Greenwich, the newest addition to the Moda Black Label range of blown vinyl wallcoverings, is another natural inspired collection. Glittering highlights add a luxurious edge to this small-scale geometric, reminiscent of woven leaves.

At F4W we showed three new colours added to our popular Clara and Clara Stripe heavyweight vinyls: contemporary charcoal and taupe, plus a fresh four-wall cream, all with a subtle silver or gold glitter. Also new is a striking black flock version of Clara on a glitzy non-woven substrate, which proved a great success.

Another new launch, Zena, fuses geometric and ornamental patterning in a choice of dove, cream, taupe, black or dusky pink, adding a modern twist to the classic damask. A matt tactile element within the geo complements the ornamental area’s glitter effect.

And keying in with the latest fashion trends is a compact set of fun, quirky papers. Time to Sparkle, inspired by Pinterest and the idea of sharing images, is a collage of dusky pinks, corals and greys accented with a copper glitter. Aloha picks up on the tropical fashion, featuring flamingoes, cacti and palm trees on a soft white wood ground with silver glitter.

Highlighting the same trend is Cacti, a quirky multi-coloured design with mica, while Lagoon sets the underwater beauty of shoals of fish on a background of colourful florals, shimmering with subtle micas.

Contemporary and realistic looks

Design variety and new novelties

Two new blown vinyl ranges, Royal glitter damask with coordinating stripe, and Opulence, a contemporary glitter scroll set, led the positive response to A. S. Creation’s latest collections at the show. Opulence scroll design is complemented with a stripe and texture for all four walls in a choice of colours, including rich gold and silver.

The second Decoworld collection showcases a wide range of stone and timber effects, plus impressive metal designs and matching plains with a subtle texture. These high quality non-woven wallpapers have been created with a love for detail, and look deceptively real in soft shades of sand, brown and beige.

Reflection is an exciting range of non-woven blown vinyls highlighting graphic designs and gradients of colour with matching glossy-look stripes. It includes an unusual palm leaf pattern made up of individual dots and colours, plus a stunning striped design. Matt and glossy plains offer a choice of colour combinations with the patterns in predominantly metallic tones such as silver, copper and gold, reflecting contemporary trends.

The new Wentworth textured vinyl collection of damask, stripe and geometric patterns was very well received at the show. The three designs are highlighted by glitter and come in a choice of cream or duck egg with gold, and grey or black with silver.

Also popular was the new Novelty collection, including Safari, with Pop-art style wildlife portraits and metallic highlights; Hearts: a feminine floral/lace design; Frames: photographic scenes and motivational quotations on a rustic brick ground; Love Your Home: a wood panel effect with hand-crafted wall decorations; and colourful Festival and Football collages of memorable images of free-spirited events and the beautiful game.

Fashion designer Roberto Geissini is renowned for his signature trademark of rebellious styling, often highlighting skulls, and these appear in his new wallpaper range in silver/black or gold/cream, both with glitter.

As demand for quirky designs continues, the new Portfolio collection offers an eclectic mix ranging from 3D damasks, marbles and metallic woods to vintage drawers and stags’ heads.
