AGREEMENTi BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA AND

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ONEXEMPTION FROM VISA REQUIREMENT FOR HOLDERS OF

DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT

The Government of the Republic of India and the Government of theRepublic of Uzbekistan, hereinafter referred to as the Parties,

Striving to strengthen the friendly relations between the States of the Parties,Desiring to facilitate the entry and exit, as well as mutual travel of the citizens

of the States of the Parties, holding valid diplomatic passports,Have agreed as follows:

Article 1Visa Exemption

The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party shall Ienter, exit, transit and temporarily stay in the territory of the State of the other !Party without visas for a period of up to sixty (60) days from the date of entry intothe territory of the State of that Party.

Article 2Applicability of National Laws I

1. The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party, Iduring their stay in the territory of the State of the other-Party, shall follow the inational laws of the State of that Party, including the rules of registration, stay andtransportation applicable for foreign citizens.

2. Nothing in the Agreement shall be construed as affecting the rights andobligations set out in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 18 April, I1961 or the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 24 April, 1963. :

I1. A citizen of the State of either Party, who is assigned as a member of the!diplomatic or consular staff in Missions/Posts or as representative of hislhercountry in an international organization located in the territory of the State of theother Contracting Party and is in possession of a valid diplomatic passport, shall berequired to obtain a visa prior to entry into the territory of the State of the otherContracting Party.

of diplomatic passports of the State of either Party who areemployed by an international organization, body, agency or any other such entity,would be required to obtain visa prior to their entry into the territory of the Stateof the other Party for official or private visits.

3. The conditions enumerated in paragraph 1 of this Article shall also apply tothe spouse of a member of the diplomatic Mission or Consulate or representative ininternational organization, their children and their dependent parents.

Article 4Refusal of Entry & Suspension

1. Each Party reserves the right to refuse entry to the territory of its State orlimit the period of stay of valid diplomatic passport holders of the State of the otherParty if the person is considered undesirable.

2. Each Party may temporarily, in whole or in part, suspend theimplementation of this Agreement due to reasons of public order, national securityor protection of public health. The suspension shall not affect the rights of citizenswho have already entered the territory of the State of the other Party.

3. The Parties shall inform each other through diplomatic channels, not laterthan 72 hours, of the implementation of the measures referred to in paragraph 2 ofthis Article.

Article 5Travel Documents

1. The diplomatic passports of citizens of the State of either Party shall bevalid for at least 6 (six) months as on the date of entry into the territory of the Stateofthe other Party.

2. The Parties shall exchange within 30 days from the date of signing of thisAgreement through diplomatic channels, samples of existing diplomatic passports,including a detailed description of such documents.

3. Either Party, if it substitutes diplomatic passports or amends them duringthe validity of this Agreement, shall inform the other Party 30 days prior throughdiplomatic channels and provide samples of new passports, including a detaileddescription of such documents.

Article 6Loss of Passport

1. The holders of valid diplomatic passports of the State of either Party, incase of loss or damage of travel documents in the territory of the State of the other

2. In case of lost or damaged passports, the diplomatic Mission or consularPost of the State of the Party concerned shall issue a new passport or other traveldocument, temporarily replacing the lost passport. Departure from the territory ofthe State of the receiving Party is possible in accordance with the provisions of thisAgreement and the legislation of the State of the receiving Party.

Article 7Dispute Settlement

In case of disputes and disagreements on the implementation andinterpretations of the provisions of this Agreement, the Parties shall resolve themby negotiations and consultations through diplomatic channels without reference toany third party or an international tribunal.

Article 8Revision and Amendments

This Agreement may be amended or supplemented by the mutual consent ofthe Parties through separate protocols, which shall become an integral part of thisAgreement and shall enter into force according to the procedure provided inArticle 9 of the Agreement.

Article 9Entry Into Force, Duration And Termination

1. This Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and shall come intoforce 30 days from the date of receipt of the last written notification on completion Iof the necessary internal legal procedures by the Parties for its entry into force. !

2. Either Party may terminate this Agreement by giving a written notificationto the other Party. This Agreement shall be terminated after ninety (90) days fromthe date of receiving such notification from the other Party.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned being duly authorized by their Irespective Governments, have signed the present Agreement.
