Operation –
ETS
Electrical pulses controls the activationof the AST stepper motor.
The direction of the rotation of thespindle depends on the phaserelationship of the power pulses.
The rotation of the spindle istransformed into linear motion.

Electrical pulses change the polaritiesof the coil.
The coil rotates the magnet rotor ofthe valve in a stepwise fashion.
The valve has a screw structure andthe needle valve assembled with therotor moves linearly with the rotation.

Adaptive
Superheat Regulation
Regulation is here based on the
evaporator’s load by means of MSSsearch (MSS = lowest permissable
superheat).
With MSS search, the superheat
reference is lowered to the exact point
where instability sets in.
The superheat is limited by the settings
for min. and max. Superheat.

Load-defined superheat regulation
The reference follows a defined curve.
This curve is defined by three values:the closing value,
the min.value
the max. value.
These three values must be selected insuch a way that the curve is situated
between the MSS curve and the curve
for average temperature difference
ΔTm (temperature difference between
media temperature and evaporator
temperature.
Setting example = 4, 6 and 10K.
Load-defined superheat
In addition to adaptive superheat, EKC 316A features Load-defined superheatcontrol as well.
