FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART ... VICTORY BELONGS TO JESUS!

What a powerful weekend we had at Heritage! The Church on Fire

Summit was tremendous. Jon Mitchell was on fire. The worship led by

Chuck King and Aaron Jackson was on fire. Bishop Thomas and the

Heritage “Mass” Choir was on fire. Thank you for your participation.

Pastors were ignited and healed. Prayer warriors were refreshed and

encouraged. Bishop Thomas gave the prophetic word of a tidal wave of

revival coming to this area. Let’s catch that wave and ride it out!

Bishop Thomas closed the Sunday services with the song, Victory Belongs to Jesus! That song is still ringing

in my ears and in my spirit! HE is the One who brings the victory – certainly NOT my striving!

This week, we are back to our Encounter Time on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in the Block. I want to

teach the session on the Lord’s Prayer Model. And then we will keep practicing it as a group. I am so

excited about the Spirit-inspired prayer that is erupting in me and I sense welling up in our congregation.

Sunday, we return to The Church Jesus Wants! This Sunday we hear the message to the church at Sardis,

Revelation 3:1-6. Jesus pleads for a church that is REAL! Not just a church in name only! Oh, this is

good! There is a great warning for the church that does not repent and some great promises for those

who do!

Come get “all in” the Church on Fire!

See you Sunday!

ASIST Many in our community, our schools, and even our congregation have been

touched by suicide. Suicide is preventable. Anyone can make a difference. If

you could recognize people at risk of suicide; talk to them, hear their

stories, and understand their situations; and help them stay safe with a life-

affirming intervention would you? Want to know how?

Heritage is hosting a two-day ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills

Training) workshop August 10-11. It is open to anyone 16 or older and is

widely used by both professionals and the public, ASIST offers something to

every participant, no matter how experienced. It is especially helpful for

counselors, chaplains, law enforcement, and teachers.

Register today—there are only 45 seats available-at www.heritage.church/

events. The cost is $5 and includes lunch both days.

God’s Power at Work! “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,

according to His power that is at work within us,” -Ephesians 3:20

A few weeks prior to my

graduation from Ozark Bible

College I was asked to choose a

verse of scripture that would

become the theme verse for my

life and ministry. I chose the

above verse of scripture from

Ephesians. It is a salute to God,

who is able to do much more that

any of us could even imagine when

the power of His Holy Spirit is at work in us.

I have a great imagination. Upon graduation I had some

grand plans for my life. During the years I worked

toward my degree I also spent time studying the stronger churches in America and in some instances

learning from their Pastors. I had the privilege of

spending an entire morning in the company of W.A.

Criswell, pastor of First Baptist Church, Dallas,

Texas. At that time, it was the largest congregation of

Christians in America. He shared many of the methods

used in growing the church. That experience alone gave

me many great and wonderful ideas for church

growth. Let me repeat, “I have a great imagination.”

It will soon be fifty-two years since my graduation. The

words of my theme scripture have been fulfilled many

times over. I will not bore you with stories of how God

has used His power in my life. I will simply say that He

has been wonderful to me.

I have been able to do many things that I could not have

even imagined. I have been places, done things and seen

God do things that took my breath away.

So, this article is just a tiny salute to God for what He

has done in my life. I am what I am because of His great

love for me, love so great and undeserved that it goes

beyond my wildest imagination.

What about you? Are you allowing the great God of the

universe to have His way in your life? Are

you allowing Him to work out His good

pleasure in your life? I highly recommend

it.
