SESSION 1 - Activity 1
People Bingo
1. Hand out people bingo worksheets.
2. Instruct participants to introduce themselves to one person at a time and
ask them one statement on the sheet. If that person matches the chosen
statement they are to ask their name and write down in the relevant statement
box. They should then move onto the next person in the room and repeat the
process again.
3. The goal is to fill each square with a name but they are not permitted to use
their own name.
4. Advise them they only have a few minutes to complete the task.
5. To finalise this ‘getting to know you task’ ask each participant to take turns
to reveal three statements about a one chosen member of the group they
have just met.

Facilitator Guidance NotesSESSION 1 - Activity 2What is Good Self – Esteem?
The brainstorming activity ‘What is Good Self-Esteem?’ should aid in
clarifying a main objective i.e. this is what we all need to aspire to.
Participant’s responses might include some of the following:
Liking yourself
Knowing that others like you
Feeling that you can and do achieve
Feeling loved and valued
Being able to co-operate and work with others
Being able to recognise and label good/positive qualities in your-self
Knowing that you can cope and change
Being able to accept positive criticism
Knowing that you are just as good as everyone else
Feeling positive and confident
Participants can work in pairs on this activity and feedback their responses to
each other in the whole group context. Once participants have clarified the
nature of good self esteem it will then be possible to complete The Self-
Esteem Assessment.

Section 2 (Continued)
Do you feel that other girls have better relationships
than you?
Do you think that you have to try and impress others
with the way you act and behave at school?
Do you feel shy or awkward in some situations? Do you feel ‘fed-up’ at the end of the day?
PART 2 - Now add up your score A = 1 point B = 2 points C = 3 points D = 4 points Total = ____
Results – Score YourselfScore 28 – 43You have low self esteem so now you really need to work on it so that you can become a happier and more confident person. START TO THINK POSITIVE: you CAN CHANGE and start to feel good about yourself. You can begin to make small changes to build a better you and to change not just the way you feel about yourself but how others feel about you. Time to go for it girl!
Score 44 – 73Your self esteem is a bit up and down. You need to start to feel more in control and more confident about your coping strategies. Time to build yourself up and put yourself forward a bit more. Things that may have made you feel a bit fragile before need to be recognised, expressed and dealt with. It is time to clean up your act and shape up. Go for it!
Score 74 – 102Your self esteem is okay but you may still lack confidence in a few key areas. These need to be sorted out so that you can become more confident about who you are and make the most of opportunities that may arise. Time to strengthen what you’ve got! Go for it!
Score 103 – 112Your self esteem is fine! Top rating! You are generally positive and feel confident about yourself and your life. Set yourself some new goals – make them bigger and better, give yourself a challenge. Go for it!
