GIRLS CLUB

Join us for the introduction of the Girl’s Club. Find out about the Girl’s Club in Assosa, our partner school in Ethiopia and be part of the launch of

a girl’s club in Budehaven. We will be finding out what life is like for girls all over the world:

We are going to find out more about girls like Ambie. Instead of going to school like most 10-year old girls, Ambie spends her days walking to collect water for her family. She dreams of becoming a nurse. But until

she has time for school, this will remain a dream. We are going to walk her 10,000 steps during the activity days. We will be meeting Bude’s

female boxing champion and hear what life is like for her in a male-dominated sport. Maybe we’ll try some boxing! Because many women and girls in Africa can’t afford underwear, they fall victim to disease and

attack. And girls who are lucky enough to have a place in school often miss 3 or 4 days a month due to their lack of underwear. We are going

to meet the “Knicker Elf” and find out about “Smalls for All” We will find out what life is like for girls who wear the hijab. We can try them on

ourselves and learn to write our names in Arabic and Hindi. What you will need: Bring a packed lunch or enough money to buy your

lunch should we be out and about (include pocket money for ice-cream or drinks). Suitable footwear, coat or sun cream.

ABOUT ACTIVITY DAYS AT BUDEHAVEN 18th & 19th july Activity days are an opportunity for pupils to try something new. Last year we had a massive range of activities available and the pupils had a great time. This year we once again have a variety of different activities for the pupils to experience.

The booklet (also available on the Hub) lists all the activities, their prices and the number of places available. All you need to do at the moment is look through the booklet and choose the activities that your son or daughter would like to do.

During the week commencing 25th April each Year group will be allocated time during Tutor Time at 9.00am to book their activities. Year 7 on 26th April, Year 8 on 27th April and Year 9 on 28th April.

Students will be taken to IT suites and be given the chance to login into the learning hub and choose their activities. Every student will be allocated a computer and have the chance to book during tutor time. Activities will be equally divided so that each Year group has the same chance to book therefore, 30 places for Paintballing on 26th, 30 places on the 27th and so on... Booking will close on Friday 29th at 6pm.

Once the bookings have been processed pupils will get a confirmation/permission letter, any specific information and also how much (if anything) they need to pay. Payment can then be made by App or online using the Schoolcomms facilities. A payment page will appear on your account according to which activity your child has chosen. Please note this facility also enables you to give permission by simply ticking a box.

Pupils wishing to pay by cash or cheque can do so during the week beginning the 16th - 20th May - this facility will be open from 1.30 – 2.20 in The Old Gym, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Please note we cannot allow any student to participate in an Activity without a parent or guardian’s permission or full payment where required. Please ensure this is done online or with the paper slip at the bottom of the confirmation letter.
