1 Introduction The Network Monitoring System (NeMoS) monitors network components inside and outside the Spectrum-LAN using the SNMP protocol. Information is collected by three scripts, which are controlled by a daemon. The collected data, control parameters and settings are stored in a local database and provided to the user through a Web interface.

2 Functional Description The Network Monitoring System (NeMoS) is running at a server of Spectrum Power 4 and is operated by the Firefox browser (http://[::]/nemos (port is optional). The HTTP based configuration of the manufacturers and the monitoring tools can be directly accessed from NeMoS. In NeMoS a technological address (TA) can be defined for each SNMP monitoring. This TA is set to ON/OFF or to the monitored value in dependence of the defined reference value, of the selected operator and the optional limit.

The previously defined SNMP information is collected and can be displayed on the web interface. The Monitoring View (device connections) is automatically built (switches with SNMP functionality required). A periodical check for broken connections and offline devices is performed.

4 User Interface The user interface for the Network Monitoring System (NeMoS) is the Firefox browser (http://[::]/nemos (port is optional)). After the access to the Firefox browser, the login display is provided.
