And the Old Testament to me, is always a shadow or a--or a forecasting of the New Testament. Many times someone has said, "Brother Branham, why is it you always take the Old Testament? Nearly always, taking a text, you'll go back to the Old Testament." I do it because I like typology. I like... My education is very limited, as all know. And the only way that I know to be somewhere near right, is to see what the pattern was, to look off the blueprint and see what it was. And then I know what that was will be something similar to what this is here, because it's just the shadow of it. And I always look back to the Old Testament to see what the children of Israel did, see what the punishment of sin was, see what the justice of the prophets was, see what all those things were; and then I'll have an idea what this is here, which has foreshadowed what will be in the general wind up at the end. « 38 † During this time, there had been a great thing happen to Israel. It was in the darkness of its midnight. « 39 † In the Old Testament, if the Lord willing, maybe in the coming services, I'd like to show how that the Seven Church Ages typed out in the Old Testament. How that they began just exactly like at the--the beginning of the Church Ages of the Gentile church, and went right down through a similar dark age, and come out into the glorious time of Pentecost, at the falling of the Holy Spirit in the early church of the--in the Jewish dispensation. Then going through another period of the Gentile church, through a dark age, and then coming out again into the Millennium at the end... 55-0228 SEPARATION.FROM.UNBELIEF_ PHOENIX.AZ MONDAY_ « E-15 † Now, in the day when just at the midnight of Israel's history... If you notice, King Solomon, in the day of Solomon, Israel was at its brightest turning. Then the king of Ahab, time of king Ahab, it was at its darkest. Just at the dark time of Israel, where Ahab married a little old, idol worshiper, and brought idolatry into--into Jewish religion, so did the Holy Ghost church marrying into the world and bringing idolatry in the dark ages: very beautiful type on both churches. And Ahab was a borderline believer, just a fellow that believed enough to make him miserable. Did you ever see people like that? Well, they have conception that they would like to go to church, and do right; they feel like it'd make them a better social person in their social lives. And maybe for the sake of their children, they think they ought to, maybe, belong to church. If that isn't the most miserable person I know of. I tell you; that the best of cut loose all shore lines and launch out into the deep, or don't go at all. Just simply stay home, or either go all the way for Christ. God wants

Ahab = Dark Ages Note: idolatry = spiritual adultery In the darkest age, Elijah thought there no other believers, but God had reserved 7000

somebody who will really go all the way, give all you got, soul, body, and spirit to the service of the Lord. 57-0115 GOD.KEEPS.HIS.WORD_ STURGIS.MI TUESDAY_ « E-32 † Now, for a background, in the Bible we're going back over into I Kings just for a little bit, in a mental conditions, to let our mind drift back to a certain event. There was King Ahab of the Old Testament. Which King Ahab in his time, is a beautiful type of the--the New Testament. And notice. Just as Ahab married Jezebel, an idolater, and brought idolatry into Egypt, was a type in the--the seven dispensations of the Old Testament, as the seven candlesticks of the New Testament. In the dark ages, the fifteen hundred years of dark ages, protestantism married Romanism and brought idolatry into the church just the same way. Watch the Bible and see if it doesn't say that. That's right. Through that fifteen hundred years of dark ages, you come out with a false baptism, sprinkling, the false name, false everything else. And God said, "You have a little light, and you have a name, but you've denied Mine." See? So that's the same thing. I Kings 19:14-18 » 14 † And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. … » 18 † Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. Elijah came at the end of both “church ages” Malachi 4:5-6 » 5 † Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: » 6 † And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

John = turns the hearts of the Israelite fathers to the Pentecostal children Bro. Prophet Joel spoke of the condition of Israel and the condition of the church

« E-37 † During this time of Joel's prophecy here, the Church was in a terrible condition: backslid,

just prior the coming of the Lord, the first time. And how that the Spirit come upon this prophet and he--

he foresaw things. And he saw the--the condition of the Jews. And he saw the condition of the Church

in this day.

Now, this prophecy, of course, like all other prophecy, has a compound meaning. A prophecy sometime

has a natural meaning. Then it has a spiritual meaning. Now, of course, the natural meaning of that,

even Dr. Scofield in his footnotes (I'm not a Scofieldite) but--but however, in his footnotes there, he

gives that it meant when the Syrians come over and invaded. That's true.

But it also had a--a meaning of--of the last days, towards the Armageddon, the coming up of the last

days, the condition of the Church spiritually in the last days.

Joel 1 » 1 † ¶ The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. » 2 † Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. But that life in the heart of that tree has to live. God said, "I will restore," for the evening Light's to--to ripen. In the middle of that tree stands the heart of God. That's the Bride Tree to meet the--the--the Bridegroom Tree, just like was in the garden of Eden originally--the tree, the two trees of life. Take Adam and Eve as--as a shadow of the two trees that actually stood there, life and death. And there's where it goes to today. Oh, they're a bit confused. They don't know what to do about it. When they hear the trumpet sound, they don't know which way to go. They say, "Well, I--I--I don't know." It's pitiful, it's pathetic. That's right. « 379-2 † A.RESUME.OF.THE.AGES - CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.10 It is "Thus saith the Lord" for that is what Joel 2:23-26 says, "Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, My great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the Name of the Lord your God, That hath dealt wondrously with you: and My people shall never be ashamed." Now it says God is going to "restore". The Lutheran Age did not restore the church; it started a reformation. The Wesleyan Age did not restore. The Pentecostal Age did not restore. But God has to restore for He cannot deny His Word. This is not the resurrection of the Church; it is the "Restoration". God will take the Church right back to Pentecost of the beginning. Now notice in verse 25 it tells why we need restoration. The locust, cankerworm, caterpillar and palmerworm have eaten all but the root and a small bit of the stem. Now we are told that all these insects are all one and the same in different stages. That is right. They are the antichrist spirit manifested in organization, denomination and false

doctrine through the ages. And that poor little root and stalk is going to be restored. God isn't going to plant a new Church, but is going to bring His original planting back to original seed. He is doing it as stated in verse 23, by the teaching, or "former" rain. Next will come the harvest rain or rapturing faith.

No denomination to tie them down; they're free, doing a great work. 205 So, in come this little old devil, setting up with his two horns setting out in front, like a grasshopper, you know, and his little old greedy teeth. That's his first, the palmerworm, he come in to eat off brotherly love. He said, "You know, So-and-so did so-and-so, over at So-and-so's church. I wouldn't believe that bunch of people." See? Oh, I come to find out, that godly bunch of little saintly women he had there, was bobbing off their hair and wearing lipstick. I tore the thing apart. Sure did. But I thought he wouldn't ask me back. But you know what? There was such anointing of the Holy Spirit around the vine, till that old palmerworm couldn't touch it at all. You know, there's an electric fence like. That palmerworm can't get over that fence. That shock of the Holy Spirit of love, it'll kill him every time, brothers. And if we need fences to build, it oughtn't to be denominational fences; it ought to be love fences to keep the insect out, to keep the palmerworm out, for he is the devil's number one destroyer.

57-0309B I.WILL.RESTORE_ PHOENIX.AZ SATURDAY_ « E-14 † Jesus said, "This will all men know that you're My disciples, when you have love one for the other." Pentecost had that. I'm speaking Pentecost, meaning the first group of the apostles and the disciples. They had that brotherly love. They wasn't greedy. They sold everything they had, for the furthering of the church. They was so together, till even when one heard the other one died, they said, "Let us go and die with him." Such a feeling. Now, Jesus spoke of this and said that... Paul did, rather, and said, "Let brotherly love continue." That was in the first church. But something taken place. And there was a fellow come in by the name of a palmerworm. And when he began to eat on that vine of brotherly love, he cut the very sap line of it. Because it don't make any difference how smart we are, how much we think we know, or how much we want to be different from somebody else, and as long as that brotherly feeling isn't among us, we are fighting a losing battle. That's right. We can't win. There's no way for us to win.

Locust Saying

Cankerworm Doctrine

The very spirit in you, it bears record that it's not from God. See? The cankerworm has been eating, that's all, eating away the true things of God. Yes, sir. Unauthoritative word is contrary to the Doctrine of the apostles. Oh, my! « 300 † This is the apostolic Doctrine. This is the Bible. This is the Holy Spirit. Every Word in It is true. You just believe and accept It, and don't take down, watch every promise be fulfilled, the manifestation of God present right now. 301 If He isn't just as much God now as He was when the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea, He wouldn't be God. He isn't the same God that fell on Pentecost, and He is right here today, He isn't the same God. Then, there was no resurrection, if He wasn't. What good does a historical God do to you, if He isn't the same God today? See? What good does it do to send preachers to the seminaries, and hatch them out like incubator chickens, and go around like that, if there is no such a thing as God?

Caterpillar Crowned

The Life (Spirit) Sucks the Life Every time it organizes, it dies Who we going to call him? Denomination. That's that guy's right name. Why? All the gifts of the Spirit is gone; no Divine healing, no speaking in tongues, no prophecy, no nothing, don't believe in being prophets. They don't believe in these things. They don't know. All, man-made! Everything they got is man-made, artificial. See? All right. The church natural, there is a church natural. That's the one is made up by man. Church spiritual...

Insects eating down God’s heritage Why gifts don’t operate (irreverence, etc.)

57-0309B I.WILL.RESTORE_ PHOENIX.AZ SATURDAY_ « E-40 † And now, for our real thought of this, if God said these insects would eat down His heritage, can't you see, brethren, Divine healing, why it doesn't operate right? Can you see how our gifts don't operate right? The spirits, they'll get in the church and some with tongues will speak irreverently. Some of them pay no attention to it. Others will say, "That message wasn't right." They let this go and that go. Then the gifts will come and they say, "Oh, Jones said, 'This was this and this was that.'" It's the Holy Spirit, truly, but It can't get through to produce Itself. These little insects are keeping it down. That's the reason we can't have real... Why, this great power that's in the church, should have swept her from sea to shining sea. The great church of the Living God should be every power...?... What does it? Just as soon as one raises up here comes the caterpillar and starts boring on. But one great thing: God said it would be that way. We see it. And God said, "I will restore." I'm looking for it. It may look like the Bride Tree won’t be restored, but His Word can’t fail

62-0422 THE.RESTORATION.OF.THE.BRIDE.TREE_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-3 N-15 SUNDAY_ « 478 † I know we got some late spring, late season of Easter coming. "The Lord is tarrying His Coming," they say, everything like that. And the cold winds killed a lot of them denominational branches, but it can't kill that Life that's predestinated. 479 "Heavens and earth will pass away, but My Word shall not." "All that He foreknew, He called; those who He called, He has justified; those who He had justified, He has already glorified." Hallelujah! It's written in the Book, the Lamb's Book of Life, and cannot die.

Ezekiel 37 Associated with Hosea 6:1-3 1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

- The nation of Israel has been “slain” - The spiritual condition of the church

- Ezekiel’s vision has been used as a rod to chasten people who

are believed to be dead and dry. Ezekiel was filled with compassion when he looked on the bones (Congressman Upshaw called “dry bones” for his stand on prohibition)

- He saw lives that had fallen, people that had been wounded

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

- Dry because the flesh was completely consumed, the marrow

Four Stages (Sinew, Flesh, Skin, Breath)

Skin veils the blood 54-1024 THE.UNPARDONABLE.SIN_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-26 N-8 SUNDAY_ « 68 † What does the flesh do? The flesh only veils the blood. The blood is the life. That's the only way that keeps life in my body, is for the skin and flesh and tissues and sinew, and so forth, to hold the blood in their places, so they can give life to this tabernacle that I'm dwelling in. Is that right? That's what veiled God from mankind, was the Blood and sinew and skins of Jesus Christ the Son of God. The unadulterated birth of His, Who God the Father overshadowed the virgin Mary and created in her the Blood cell of His Own Being, the creation. And in there, His skin kept It from man. But one day the sin of man opened up His heart with a spear, and His Blood ran out on the ground. It was give freely for the sins of the world. And it's revealed today. And as that Blood came forth, also came Spirit. And through the washing of the water by the Blood through the Spirit, we are born into the Kingdom of God, new creatures in Christ Jesus. And God took that dead, still body laying in the grave, and rose it up for our justification, setting at the right hand of His majesty tonight, making intercessions. What kind of a people should we be, cowardly, back down, afraid to say to the boss that you're saved or born again, afraid to testify to the drunkard? "We have boldness (hallelujah) to enter into the holiest by the Blood of Jesus Christ."

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

- Each bone met its fellow; not one was missing, not one missed it place

- In the resurrection of the dead, every atom will find its place, by the same wisdom and power that formed them in the womb

- The Word of God proclaimed to the bones caused them to be covered with sinews, flesh and skin

Hidden Manna (the Word)

Jesus is the hidden Manna; Christ is the church's Manna. What is manna? Manna in the Old Testament

was that what come down from heaven fresh every night to sustain the church in its journey. Is that

right? Now, in the New Testament what is the hidden Manna? "A little while and the world seeth Me no

more (hidden); yet ye shall see Me, for I'll be with you, even in you to the end of the world." And Christ

is that hidden Manna that comes from God out of heaven afresh every day--every day.

We can't say, "Well, two weeks ago I had a great experience of God." What about right now? See? Every

day, fresh, a new blessing, a new something coming from God, the hidden Manna coming down from

God out of heaven, Christ. And we feast upon this Manna which is Christ, and He sustains us through the

journey till we reach the--the land on the other side.
