EZ Pedaler is committed to manufacturing high quality low
maintenance electric bicycles. The following warranty covers
the ST500, X500, X350
Starting in Jan 2017 the above models come with a full three year
warranty against manufacturer defects. Normal wear and tear
items such as brake pads, brake cables, chain adjustments, tires,
etc. have a 90 day warranty. All other parts of the bicycle will have
a 3 year warranty from the date of manufacture. That date can be
found on the right side of the head tube and is designated by the
last four digits indicating the month and year of manufacture.
Your EZ Pedaler Battery will be considered useable as long as
it can hold 50% of its charge over a 3 year period.
(Abusive treatment or failure to maintain your bicycle and battery
will void your EZ Pedaler warranty. Your EZ Pedaler is a road bike,
not a mountain bike and should be ridden on normal road surfaces.
Your EZ Pedaler is built to withstand various weather conditions
however the hub motors should never be submerged in water.
Opening a motor, controller, or battery will void your warranty unless
done by an authorized dealer. Please refer to our maintenance sec-
tion for recommended care instructions for your EZ Pedaler bicycle.)
RECORDING SERIAL NUMBERS
Your EZ Pedaler has three numbers that should be recorded for
warranty purposes. The frame number located on the right side of
the head tube adjacent to the front logo. The battery number will
be found on the base of the battery. The Motor number is on the
hub motor itself between the spokes.

CLASSIFICATION / SAFETY
The United States Law HR 727 under the Consumer
Protection Safety Act, “the term `low-speed electric
bicycle’ means a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with fully
operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750
watts (1 h.p.), whose maximum speed on a paved level
surface, when powered solely by such a motor while
ridden by an operator who weighs 170 pounds, is less than
20 mph”. An electric bicycle is considered a bicycle as
long as the motor is 750 watts or smaller and the
maximum speed when not pedaling is 20 mph or less.
What this means is that an EZ Pedaler electric bicycle is
treated as a bicycle and subject to all the rules and
regulation of a regular bicycle. Your EZ Pedaler bicycle
does not require a license or registration to operate.
We strongly recommend the following:
1 Always wear a helmet (make sure it is the proper size and
complies with CSPC or CE safety standards)
2 Always be seen. Wear colorful clothing and use lights
and reflectors that are visible to all both day and night.
3 Understand and Obey standard bicycle laws and always
be aware of your surroundings.
4 Never more than one rider on an EZ Pedaler Electric
bicycle.
5 Be extra careful when riding in wet conditions, paying
attention to distance needed to stop.
7
SAFETY / INSPECTION
When purchasing your bicycle it is the responsibility of
your EZ Pedaler Dealer to make your sure that the bicycle
is fitted properly to you before using it. If your bicycle was
purchased from an online retailer, we strongly recommend
that you have it inspected by a reputable local bicycle
shop. It is very important to make sure your bicycle is
adjusted properly before using it. For your safety we
strongly recommend you make visual inspection a routine
process before riding your bicycle.
1 Always make sure your seat is firmly fastened at the
appropriate height. Never raise the seat above the seat
post marking.
2 Make sure you have the proper handlebar position and
see that it is tight.
3 Assure proper tightness and alignment of the handle
post with the front wheel.
4 Inspect brakes and ensure they are in proper working
order.
5 Look to see that tires are properly inflated. Tire specs
call for 35-65 psi, we recommend 55 psi.
6 Check wheel tightness as well as other fasteners on a
regular basis.
7 Make sure battery has a full charge.
8 Routinely inspect bicycle frame and front forks for cracks.
Never ride a bicycle with a cracked frame (notify dealer).

BRAKES
All brake levers have electric cut off connections attached to the front
harness. If either brake lever is depressed the motor activity will stop. It
will only continue if you keep pedaling with pedal assist or re engage the
throttle. The right brake lever is the rear brake and should be used first
to slow your bike down. Press the left brake (front brake) slowly to come
to a full stop. If for some reason your motor should stop working the first
place to look is to see if your electric brake wires have been compromised.
Proper brake adjustments are sometimes difficult. Unless you have
experience we recommend you see any bike dealer for adjustment.
Always test your brakes and make sure brake cables free from any ob-
struction.
When riding in confined areas we recommend keeping your right hand
over your brake lever in case of emergency. Do not use pedal assist
mode when in confined areas or when making sharp turns. Be sure to
allow proper distance for stopping on wet surfaces. Always maintain
control of your bicycle speed and handling.

SHIMANO NEXUS 3 SPEED INTERNAL HUB
If your bicycle is equipped with an internal 3 speed hub, shifting can be
done at any time by turning the shifter on the right handlebar with your
thumb and forefinger. It is not necessary to be pedaling when shifting.
One of the attributes of the internal 3 speed hub is that it is very easy to
adjust. Should you feel slippage in a gear you refer to the adjustment
window on the right side of the rear hub. You will notice 2 yellow lines
(fig 2) . When the handlebar shifter ( fig. 1 ) is in gear (2) the yellow dot
should appear in the middle of the two lines. This can be accomplished by
backing off the small nut on the right in (fig 2) and turning the cable ad-
juster to the right of that nut. When adjusted tighten the lock nut and you
are done. If you continue to feel slippage repeat process and turn cable
adjuster until the dot id almost to the inner yellow line. If you experience
difficulty contact your local bicycle dealer.
FIG. 1 FIG. 2
SHIMANO 7 SPEED DERAILLEUR
If your EZ Pedaler is equipped with a Shimano 7 speed derailleur, it is
recommended that you pedal before shifting in to another gear. This
will allow for smoother operation with no chain slippage. Seven speed
derailleurs can be difficult to adjust. For information on that process we
suggest you contact your local dealer or refer to the web for (7 speed
derailleur adjustment/maintenance.

HANDLEBAR ADJUSTMENTS
ADJUSTING THE HANDLEBAR OF THE ST500
ADJUSTING THE HANDLEBAR ON THE X350
The fixed handle stem has a rubber plug that covers the stem bolt
(fig 1). Remove the rubber plug and turn the handlebar so it is per-
pendicular to the front wheel. The stem may be raised but make sure
it is not above the marking on the stem. Using the proper hex bit in
your hex tool, tighten the stem bolt so that it will not move left to
right. To change the angle of the stem you will need to loosen the
hex bolt on the underside of the stem and adjust to preference. Make
sure both bolts are securely fastened befor operating your bicycle.
Raise the handle and align with front fender so that it is perpendicu-
lar to the front wheel. Lower the handle stem and tighten the hex
bolt ( Fig 2). Raise the handle stem and tighten the hinge flange
so there is no movement of the handle stem. Standing next to the
bicycle push it forward while applying both brakes to see that it is
securely fastened.
The handle bar on your bicycle is like the steering wheel of your
automobile. It is very important that it is adjusted to the proper po-
sition and that it is tight so it will not move when braking or turning.
Below are illustrations of how they should be tightened before use.

REMOVAL These models have batteries that slide in and out of the frame. It is not necessary to remove the battery for charging purpose unless you desire to do so. To remove the battery you must open the hinge lever on the right side of the bicycle. Insert key as shown in (Fig 1). Turn key so the locking pin disappears from frame. Remove key be-fore pulling battery out of frame. (Fig 2.)
Should you experience a small amount of battery rattle when on bumpy surfaces the apply a piece of black electrical tape to each side of the battery. It is a very tight tolerance so it would not allow for more than a single layer.
BATTERY CHARGING AND REMOVAL
CHARGING The ST500 charging port is on the upper right side of your bicycle just below the on/off switch. Remove the rubber plug and plug in your 2 amp charger. Plug the charger into the wall. Allow 4 hours for a full charge. Refer to best charging practices on the opposite page.
REMOVAL The only time you will need your key is to remove your ST500 battery. It is not necessary to do so to charge your battery. If you wish to remove it insert the key into the lock on the upper left side of the frame. Turn key to left and nold. Lift handle and push thumb against frame to remove battery. This is a snug fit to eliminate rattle.
(Your bicycle hinge pin is adjustable. Open hinge lever and turn hex bolt if hinge lever is too easy or difficult to close.
CHARGING Plug your 2 amp char-ger in to the charging port on the underside of the frame closest to the hinge (Fig 1) Then plug your charger in to the wall. Allow 4 hours for a full charge. Refer to best battery prac-tices on the next page.

BATTERY BEST PRACTICES
Your Lithium ion battery is the latest battery technology on the
market today. It has no memory. It can be charged at any time you
wish. It is a better practice to top off your battery at your conve-
nience rather than waiting until the battery is nearly depleted. We
recommend charging after you have ridden a total of 20 miles
unless you are out on a long trip. In that case it is fine to push the
30-40 mile limit. If you only ride five miles a day then after 4 days
it would be good to plug it in. It would not be necessary to charge
every day.
When your battery is in need of charging the light on the charger
will turn red when it is plugged in. After a period of time it will go
green. This does not mean you have fully charged the battery. Your
battery gets 75% of its charge in the initial two hours after which
it goes into a trickle mode. It is a good idea to charge the battery
two hours longer for complete charge. Total charge time will be
4-5 hours for a deplet- ed battery.
If your battery is not being used for a long period of time then we
recommend charging for at least two hours every third month. Do
not leave the charger plugged in for more than eight hours at a
time. We recommend getting a timer and setting it for 4 hours, at
which time the timer would go off automatically. Store your bat-
tery in a dry area that is between 32 and 85 degree farenheight.
There are many factors that will determine your battery range.
Includ- ing weight of rider, terrain, temperature, tire inflation, and
wind. The use of pedal assistance will increase your range substan-
tially. Extreme heat or cold conditions can reduce battery range.
Your battery comes with 2-3 keys. We recommend separating
them and putting them in a place you will remember should one
become lost. Your keys can not be replaced.

MAINTENANCE
1 Perform routine safety inspections and fasten any loose bolts/fasteners
2 Always check to see proper tire inflation. (#1 reason for flat tires)
3 Maintain diligent charging habits and battery care (p 16-17)
4 Keep your EZ Pedaler clean and dry after use. Never submerge in water.
5 Schedule an annual service inspection at your EZ Pedaler dealer (every six
months if frequent rider).
The motor, controller and rear internal hub gears are sealed and should
never be opened. This will void the warranty.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1 I do not appear to have power.
Check to see power is on. (ST500 check that battery switch is on)
2 I appear to have power but motor will not engage.
Check motor connection on front right fork or rear right frame
(when plugging any quick connector in make sure arrows are
aligned.) Check to see if electric brake connections have been
compromised. Make sure you are not depressing a brake lever.
3 My pedal assist works intermittently
Check pedal assist sensor disk to see that it is properly aligned on
pedal crank.
Call your EZ Pedaler dealer or call 1-888-822-Bike if you have any
