Hikari Shimoda, based in Nagano, Japan, first
studied illustration at the prestigious Kyoto
Saga University of Art. She was selected
for her first solo exhibition at Motto Gallery
in Japan immediately upon graduating in
2008, effectively launching her career as
a contemporary artist. She has since held
exhibitions in galleries across the globe
spanning Japan, the United States, Canada
and Italy. In late 2014, she held a highly
acclaimed solo exhibition at Corey Helford
Gallery in California, titled “Fantastic Planet,
Goodbye Man”.
Hikari Shimoda’s artwork paints a world
where cuteness and horror coexist, where
fantasy meets reality. Inspiration for her
ambiguous child characters stems from the
Japanese pop culture that she grew up with
and it has greatly influenced her “Irasuto” and
low brow art style. Painted with a delightful
color palette, macabre and nightmarish
elements become suddenly whimsical,
offering themes of struggle, heroism and
innocence in modern society.

Alexis Marcou, an internationally renowned
artist and illustrator based in London, has
been making a name for himself since
graduating from Plymouth University in
2007. His powerful style translates equally
well on fine art gallery walls as it does in
multi-national advertising campaigns for
high profile brands such as Hewlett Packard,
Nike, Atomic Skis and Designers Against
Child Slavery. Marcou’s talent for capturing
dynamic motion in abstract forms blends
beautifully with his empathetic sense of
line in the exclusive print collection available
at Eyes On Walls.

On January 30th, Lora Zombie was
on the West Coast to celebrate
the pre- release of a recent collaboration
with The Hundreds at their store in
Santa Monica, CA. The event marked
the first opportunity to purchase the
new Lora Zombie X The Hundreds
“Open Wide” tee, now available in
their spring 2015 collection, featuring
Lora’s take on the classic Adam Bomb
mascot. Eyes On Walls was on hand to
give out a set of 3 exclusive prints that
Lora did for the shirt’s commission to the
first 50 people that purchased the new
tee. Attendees had the chance to watch
Lora live paint an explosive piece titled
‘Pugzilla, Little Girl, Mr Bird With a Match
and Adam the Bomb’ while guitarist Dima
Ali Oli provided the soundtrack. Check out
a video from the evening on our blog at:

“This image is a combination of the instrument William S.
Burroughs referred to as the ‘Soft Machine’ and elements
of a ruined version of ‘POP’, one of my previous works. By
merging the two I hoped to invoke a sense of the vitality
of the past, the life associated with it and the construct
of the future filtered through the medium of the past. It is
about the shift that occurs when attempting to grasp onto
those new values.” - HR-FM ON HIS NEW PIECE, ‘SHIFT’

Drawing inspiration from a previous piece tit led ‘The Shadow Sea’ , Alex
Cherry created the ‘Endpire’ Series imagining the viewpoint of the last
person al ive to see the icons of our world's most powerful c it ies . What
power do these icons of empires have when there is no one left to see them?
