Current Focus work for EY Improvement Team

• Statutory Duty to support RI and Inadequate settings and those not yet with Inspection Grade.

• Visits made according to our Area Scrutiny meetings – settings may be in vulnerable place and may need increased support e.g. new manager

• EYFSP Data to increase – Communication , Reading, Writing , Numbers

What services are available?

In each locality there will be a programme of group work to meet the needs of the most vulnerable. This includes:

• 1:1 family support work

• Evidenced based parenting programmes

• Support for families experiencing domestic abuse

• Popular activities including baby massage and early years drop-ins.

What else will happen at children centres?

• Groups will be available to parents of older children as well as those with under 5s and will be supported by a crèche where needed.

• Children’s centres will also host other groups and activities provided by the voluntary sector and other agencies including our health colleagues.

• Staff in local centres will be able to advise on how to secure places for families in the group work programmes

How do I get help for children and families?

Support for individual families will be provided through the Early Help Assessment process and will be provided with the support and involvement of those multi-agency colleagues who are already working with families.

Early Help Advice and guidance is available via the Early Help Co-ordinators. If you need to know who your co-ordinator is, email [email protected]

Families may also self-refer and families wishing to register for children’s centre services can do so via the web link below or in

person at their local library.

Local Offer

• The Local Offer is a website that sets out all the information in one place about special educational needs and disabilities

• Early Years have their own section: all settings are listed with information about how they support children with SEND

• New settings should ensure that they are listed and contact the Local Offer team with their SEN information

Educational Psychologist services

Moving on through Play Theraplay group for parents and under 5s

following domestic abuse• Aims to build relationship, build confidence and help

parents manage their child’s emotions following domestic abuse.

• Unique in that it is 5 weeks with parents only then 5 weeks with parents each with their child to try out Theraplay with support, in a safe context

• Based on Theraplay, which is a playful approach to building relationship

• Encouraging evaluations

Flu Campaign

Children aged two and three years old are offered this vaccination in general practice.

Your child’s GP surgery should contact you. If you haven’t heard from their GP by early November, contact them directly to make an appointment.

Children in reception class and school years 1, 2, 3 & 4 will be offered the vaccine at school.

Your child’s school will provide details from the local healthcare team.
