Come the end of October, Cajun will have successfully completed Phase 1 of the Exxon North American Growth –

Olefins Furnace (NAG-OF) Project. The NAG-OF Project has been a unique combination of Unit Price, Lump Sum, and Cost Reimbursable scope and is now approaching a total contract value of $30 million.

Cajun first mobilized the jobsite in early February to complete piling installation.

Concrete work was able to commence in late April, but was not in full swing until the end of May. It has been a long and challenging road with obstacles such as limited access to a nine acre site, abnormal amounts of rain / weather delays, a three month accelerated schedule, and coordination with multiple contractors. Currently, Cajun has successfully executed over 200,000 safe work hours on site.

Cajun has installed 674 Ea – 14” and 356 Ea – 20” PCCP, 6,775 CY of structural concrete, 33,000 SF of paving, 50,000 CY of backfill, and 60,000 tons of limestone. While all of the civil work was in full swing, Cajun was also installing 2,485 LF of Firewater piping, and 2,015 LF of Cast Iron Soil Pipe. be carefully planned and strategized for the work to be completed on schedule. Cajun has also taken on an abundance of extra work while completing the original contracted scope. This work includes installing an instrument and electrical duct bank, setting numerous prefabricated duct bank cable risers, building crane pads for module installation, as well as laydown yards and a heavy haul road. With all of the challenges, Phase 1 will complete with an overall acceleration of 12 weeks from the original 44 week schedule.

While the end is near for Phase 1, Cajun is currently in negotiations to remain onsite with 20 to 30 employees to perform additional site improvements and maintenance as requested by ECI/ExxonMobil through March of 2017. If contracted, this maintenance work will also parallel the Phase 2 scope of work that starts around May of 2016. Phase 2 will include additional structural concrete, paving, piping, and drainage improvements.

Uncommon LeadershipI n August, the Pelican Chapter of

Associated Builders and Contractors kicked off the 2016 Uncommon

Leadership class. The class is facilitated by Human Dynamics Incorporated’s Kyle Love. While effective leadership has always been central to a company’s success, the unforgiving marketplace experienced since 2008 calls even more urgently for skilled, principled, and courageous leaders. Leadership development is no longer a nice thing to do. It’s critical to remaining competitive, profitable, and adaptable. Cajun has

the prepared and seasoned talent to lead awarded projects and an ever growing workforce.

Cajun Constructors’ Trent Davis, Thomas Armstrong, Chuck Hogg, Scott Melancon and Josh Zumo will attend 7 days of leadership classes to learn how to:

1) Take greater personal accountability for achieving organizational results

2) Define the shifts in the way people need to think and act to produce key organizational results

3) Constructively manage conflict, improve relationships & achieve breakthroughs in organizational performance

4) Give Effective Presentations

5) Skillful listening

6) Creative Problem Solving

7) Leadership Integrity

A second offering of the Uncommon Leadership will be available starting in January 2016 which will be held in Lake Charles.

Cajun Receives ADSC AwardCajun Deep Foundations

was honored with the 2014 Outstanding Safety

Program Contract Member award at the ADSC International Association of Foundation Drilling national meeting in August. The award was announced at the 2015 summer meeting in Park City, Utah. This award is another example of how Cajun continues

to be recognized on both the local and national levels for our commitment to safety. Cajun has an unparalleled dedication to safety, and that starts with our employees. We look forward to upholding this reputation on all current and future projects.

Thanking Our Veterans EverydayCajun is honoring veterans who have

served in the United States Armed Forces with new reserved parking

signs at the Sasol project. These signs have been posted in multiple front row parking spaces throughout employee parking lots. Veteran parking allows Cajun the opportunity to thank them for their service every day. The hope is that each day a veteran parks in one of these designated spots they feel proud and respected for their military service. “It’s outstanding to have my veteran status honored with a parking space,” said George DeHoven, a civil foreman on the Sasol project. DeHoven was in the Navy for six years serving from 1990 to 1996 in Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Somalia. Field clerk Tony Kenney, who served over four years with the Army from 2009 to 2013 in Afghanistan, stated about the new signs, “Typically we get recognized around Veterans Day or Fourth of July. It’s nice because now we can feel that gratitude every day.”

Welding Classes at High SchoolsEver wonder what a day in the life of a workforce

development coordinator is like? Cajun’s Chris Newton had the pleasure of meeting with and spending time with

19 Donaldsonville High School welding students at Associated Builders and Contractors Pelican Chapter. Students are learning Plate SMAW and Pipe Stick (Levels 1 and 2) from 8-11 four days a week for this school year.

The students are excited to be in class and are very attentive to the instructors.

Donaldsonville is one of Cajun Industries 8 ABC High School partners and this is the first year for Donaldsonville to offer welding, we are excited to continue to watch them learn and compete in our high school “Craft Competition” this spring and entering the workforce.

Social Media MarketingEvery 20 years there is a technological

advance that changes everything. Right now, it’s social media.

Several times this quarter, various employees attended seminars and classes at LSU Continuing Education on social media marketing. These seminars gave us an in-depth look at marketing in today’s world, as well as a preview ahead to what is coming. There are many new ways we can compete in today’s ever-changing market.

Thank you to all of our friends and followers for your support as we venture more into our online community! For more information and to stay current on the latest Cajun news, you can now follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. See you on the web.

Huge Milestone for Cajun at SasolCajun Industries reached a huge milestone

for the Sasol Project and for our company. Only one day after we successfully set

approximately 112LF of 72” carbon steel underground pipe in the sheet pile trench, our guys successfully set a 108” carbon steel pipe joint that measures 78ft in length and weighed 69,683 pounds. This took a lot of dedication and hard work. Thank you to the Cajun team who continue daily to push themselves to the next level of performance. We look forward to our next milestones, while keeping safety as our number one priority.

Dow Deer Park UpdateIn April of 2015, Cajun IDC began

constructing the Water Asset project at Dow Deer Park. Due

to the diversity of the Water Asset project, Cajun IDC was able to showcase all aspects of industrial construction, including pipe fabrication and erection, structural steel erection and civil foundations; as well as subcontracts for I&E, scaffolding, painting, and insulation. After a successful, safely executed project, Cajun IDC was able to expand its footprint within Dow Deer Park with the Sludge Line Transfer piping project. This project included pipe fabrication, intensive scaffolding, and pipe erection. During the duration of the Sludge Line Transfer, Cajun IDC was awarded the LOPA A-train/B-Train. A week before mobilization, Dow approached Cajun IDC with a scope change that more than tripled the project scope and manpower. Due

to the success of this project, Cajun was awarded Phase 2, in the LOPA Acrylates project. Shortly after the completion of Phase 1, Cajun IDC began its current project, P-North MMA Transfer. P-North MMA Transfer is another diverse project, allowing us to showcase pipe fabrication, pipe erection, and steel erection.

A unique aspect of the P-North MMA Transfer was that Cajun IDC was able to utilize its relationship

with Cajun Constructors to take on a project with a heavier emphasis on civil foundations. Cajun IDC will continue to build its relationship with Dow Deer Park, in order to create a long-term relationship that can be utilized for years to come.

The team involved with Dow Deer Park includes, Superintendent Danny Williams, Superintendent Troy Landry, Superintendent Joe Martin, Project Manager Craig Kaspar, Project Coordinator Matt Davidson, Quality Control Manager Scott Winterberg, On-Site Quality Control Johnny Varghese, Regional Safety Manager Ralph Gasca, On-Site Safety Manager Justin Goudeau, and many others.

Cajun Supports United Way at the DOW Golf Tournament

In October, Cajun supported United Way by sponsoring the DOW Golf Tournament in Plaquemine.

Representatives from Cajun included Trent Cashio, Tom Howard, Nick Trussell, Kenny Wolf, Cristin Simmons, Kenny Ray, Sarah Reid Vinyard, Mike Lonero, and Randy Attuso. Cajun cooked ribs, sausage, BBQ chicken, fried shrimp and fried fish, and everyone said that the ribs were the best on the course.

United Way’s mission is to increase graduation rates so that graduates have a much

better chance of landing a job that pays a livable wage, of staying out of trouble with the law, and of living longer, healthier lives . They believe that this translates into a safer, healthier and more prosperous community for everyone.

It was beautiful, cloud-free day out on the course, and Cajun was honored to be able to support such a worthy cause.

Tenure Milestones

Tim Willis grew up in a little farm town in west Tennessee. 25 years ago, Tim Willis was recommended to Cajun by the Bechtel/Beacon Construction Manager that he was working for at the time. He started in heavy civil construction with power houses, nuclear plants, and paper mills 38 years ago, and now works as a Senior Construction Manager for Industrial Operations for Cajun. Tim loves building execution plans, training supervision, and developing large construction teams.

Tim also met his best friend, Nancy, at Cajun and married her. He says that family is the one thing he cannot live without. He has been married to his wife Nancy for 10 ½ years, and they have one son and two daughters. They also have been blessed to have three granddaughters; Sarah- age 9, Parker- age 4 and Kylie- age 11 months. They also have three grandsons; Hayden- age 14, Pierce- age 12 and Chase- age 1 ½ months. Tim enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. If he could have a dream vacation,

Tim wants to go “wherever my family would like to go.”

For fun, Tim loves watching his grandkids progress in their sporting events and competitions. He also finds pleasure in taking friends on hunts of a lifetime, along with guiding trophy deer hunts. Tim also enjoys competition hunting with his squirrel dogs.

When asked about his favorite movie, Tim said, “Trading Places because it shows people can change for the better with proper associations.” The person Tim would have loved to have met in history is Ronald Regan because, “he was a realistic, intelligent person”. Interestingly, Tim shares many qualities that his role model possesses.

Tim feels that the integrity and honesty within Cajun is enormous to both their employees and their clients. He said, “Cajun treats everyone like family and offers their employees the opportunity and training to grow and succeed toward their destiny in construction.”

Volatility seems to be the best description of the overall stock

market! Uncertainty in the global markets appears to be fueling

investor concerns in the U.S. The Federal Serve has restated their

intentions to raise interest rates this year. Not reflective of year-

to-date numbers, but over the last quarter, of the major stock

indices, the Dow held up best, even with heavy international

exposure weighing on its 30 components. The blue chips lost

-1.47% last month while the S&P 500 fell -2.64%, the Nasdaq

Composite -3.27% and the Russell 2000 -5.07%. The month’s

best performer was the Nasdaq Insurance index, which rose

2.90%. September 30 saw the following closes: DJIA, 16,284.70;

NASDAQ, 4,620.16; S&P, 1,920.03; RUT, 1,100.69.
