GREAT HOLIDAY GIFTS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

DONATE new or gently used clothing, games, & toys to Kid Kare. Sponsor a child for Christmas. Instead of gifts for adults in your life, sponsor a child in

need in a loved one’s name. Currently, there are 213 children on a waiting list for sponsors. They can be found on fb at Kid Kare Project, Inc. or call 765-832-1980 for more information

& to learn how you can help. Kid Kare services reach all corners of Vermillion County

PARKE-VERMILLION HUMANE SHELTER: Remember the animals this holiday season; Adopt, foster, or visit the shelter and spend time with the animals. Humane Shelter Christ-

mas Wish List: Money, scoopable kitty litter, Hill’s Science Diet canned cat and dog food, cat toys, copy paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, bleach, liquid laundry detergent, un-scented fabric softener sheets. Visit the website at: www.pvchs.cfsites.org or call at: 765-

492-3540

DONATE books and/or games to your child’s classroom and/or library in your child’s name. Winter is just around the corner and that = lots of indoor recesses. Talk to the teacher or li-

brarian to learn if there are specific needs/wants.

DONATE $$ to a local food pantry. If a family in need has specific needs (gluten free, etc.) the pantry volunteers can help families with special diets/needs.

DONATE $$ to a local school cafeteria to be distributed to students whose accounts need a boost.

DONATE $$ to a classroom to sponsor a book from their next book order so that EACH stu-dent has a book of their own.

DONATE $$ to local music programs. Not all families can afford a musical instrument and, therefore, may not encourage a youth to give band a try. Sponsor an instrument to help a

student get started and perhaps find a new passion.

HEIFER INTERNATIONAL: www.heifer.org Give, in a loved one’s name, a farm ani-mal or agriculture tools to provide education, sustain a family, a village and save

ORDER STATE TREE SEEDLINGS FOR SPRING PLANTING

Landowners in Indiana are fortunate to have access to inexpensive, high quality tree and shrub seedlings from the Indiana DNR Division of Forest-ry nurseries. These seedlings are 1, 2 and 3 year-old bare-root plants intended for conservation plantings: windbreaks, wildlife habi-tat, reforestation, erosion control and other conservation uses in Indiana. The seedlings are not to be planted for landscaping or Christmas trees or resold as rooted stock. Seedlings are available in multiples of 50 or 100; or in packets containing a mixture of species for different planting purposes like native nuts, fine hard-woods, upland or bottomland or wildlife plantings. Access instructions for ordering and the order form with available tree species is at http://www.in.gov/dnr/forestry/3620.htm . If you wish to order and pay for seedlings via the internet follow this link: http://www.inforestryx.com . Click on the Tree Seedling tab and proceed to making your purchase. If you are tax exempt, you will still have to order by mail or fax. Ordering for the 2019 – 2020 season will be open October 1, 2019 to May 1, 2020. Or-der early to get the species you prefer!

HOW TO STOP UNWANTED CALLS

The National Do Not Call Registry was created to stop unwanted sales calls. It’s free to register your home or mobile phone number. If you’ve already added your phone number to the Do Not Call Registry and are still getting a lot of un-wanted calls, odds are the calls are from scammers. If you answer one of these calls, hang up and report the call to the FTC. To add your number to the Registry, go to donotcall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236) from the phone you want to register. It’s free.

If you register your number at donotcall.gov, you’ll get an email with a link you need to click on within 72 hours to complete your registration. Your phone number should show up on the Registry the next day, but it can take up to 31 days for sales calls to stop. You can check whether your num-ber is on the Registry at donotcall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222 from the number you want to verify. Your registration in the Registry will never expire. The FTC will only remove your number from the Registry if it’s disconnected and reassigned, or if you ask to remove it. For more information about stopping unsolicited mail, phone calls and email, visit https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/topics/limiting-unwanted-calls-emails
