Dear Parent and Guardians,

At White Rock Junior we encourage students to take advantage of the myriad of opportunities available to them. Every student deserves the chance to shine through our co-curricular opportunities and each child can experience something new. Through this exploration we know that we can find those things we are passionate about. As students’ progress through their learning journey we encourage them to join in on a variety of different programs. The range of activities look at developing the whole child in very creative ways.

While some activities are conducted by outside providers most activities are provided through own our staff. The staff choose the activities that they are passionate about which provides for an enthusiastic experience for the students. The program creates for an engaging, enjoyable and exciting environment which mirrors all that we do at WRJ. This also reflects the core values at TAS - Compassion, Perseverance, Curiosity and Integrity.

The Junior Round Square Committee provides service and funds to many causes as well as taking responsibility for the environment. Similarly, our Edible Garden Club learns that through caring and nurturing we can grow food and share what we grow with others. As well as the traditional Choirs and Bands we have a Young Performers Club where students can just get up and have a go and entertaining others. Perhaps your child is a budding busker and would love our performer’s club. Have they ever wanted to be part of a rock band or just learn the ukulele? We have those covered too!

We all know that students must prepare for a technological future and our Coding and Robotics clubs are amazing. From coding BeeBots in the Junior ROCO Club to flying and coding drones in our Drones Club there are a variety of clubs to cater for all levels of ability. Or perhaps website building is of more interest for your child then why not get them to try our Adobe Spark Club. There are also Art and Mathematic clubs and our Da Vinci Code club covers many disciplines and enables those students who love problem solving to collaborate to come up with the answers.

From netball to jogging there are many activities on offer for sporty students. If they prefer a less physical sport, then they could try chess. From learning chess in our beginners’ club or get ready for the State finals the chess program at White Rock Junior is second to none. If your child would prefer something relaxing then perhaps the Quiet Thinkers, Colouring for Mindfulness or the Writer’s clubs are for them. Please take time to read through what is on offer and I’m sure you will be impressed with the extra opportunities that we offer outside of our educational program.

Regards, Mr. Peter GazzolaHead of Junior School, White Rock
