1 Introduction

This document outlines the necessary steps to connect to your SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA landscape incombination with SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.x.

The systems that are being used are:- SAP NetWeaver BW 7.34- SAP HANA SP07

- SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1 SP02

The document is split into three sections:

- The first part is targeting mainly DWH managers that are interesting in those data modeling scenarios that arenow possible with SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA.

- The second section is focused towards BI / DWH managers interested in the final results that are now possiblewith SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA and SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.x.

- The third section is focused more towards BI / DWH implementation teams and power users that are interestedin learning on how to create the new data models and the BI content.

3 Connecting to your environment

To start your hands-on activities follow these steps to establish a Remote Desktop connection to the hostedenvironment. In the following sections we show the needed steps to start Remote Desktop Connection on youroperating system.

3.1 Remote Desktop Connection - Windows 7

1. Click Start. 2. Select Programs. 3. Select Accessories. 4. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

5. Enter the given IP number for the SAP BusinessObjects BI Server / Client into the field Computer .6. Click Options. 7. Navigate to the tab Display.

8. Ensure the Display Configuration setting is moved to the far right so that it says Full Screen.9. Click Connect.

You will then be asked to enter the user and password to logon to the SAP BusinessObjects BI server.

3.2 Windows XP:

1. Click Start 2. Select Programs. 3. Select Accessories. 4. Select Communications. 5. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

6. Enter the given IP number for the SAP BusinessObjects BI Server / Client into the field Computer .7. Click Options. 8. Navigate to the tab Display.

4 Starting and Stopping systems

In the SAP Cloud Appliance Library you can find the complete details for your systems, such as the IP numbers andyou are able to start and stop the system based on your needs, which is important to control the costs.

On the tab Instances you can find the entry for the deployed solution. Please note that there is only one entry, as thisis treated as a solution.

By clicking on the line item on the tab instances, you can then see the complete details of the instances that werecreated and you are also able to receive the IP Addresses for each of the system (left hand side).

In case you would like to suspend, restart, or terminate the systems, it is highly recommended that such tasks are

performed using the SAP Cloud Appliance Library and not directly in the Amazon AWS Management Console as inthat way configurations such as the IP numbers are automatically assigned to the correct systems.

You can find the options to suspend, restart, or terminate the systems in the SAP Cloud Appliance library on the tabInstances as part of the entry for your system.

5 Starting your SAP NetWeaver BW and SAP HANA system

After you started the systems on SAP HANA Marketplace the SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver BW system will bestarted automatically, but there might be a situation where you would like to stop, start, or simply restart the systems.The following steps show you how to start the systems.

1. Logon using Remote Desktop to your client environment.2. After you logged on to the environment you can see the icon for the SAP Management Console on the desktop.

3. Double-Click on the icon.

4. Select the A4H instance.

5. Select the menu Action > Start to start the SAP NetWeaver BW instance. 6. When asked to provide user credentials, use the Linux OS user a4hadm listed at the beginning of this document.

You can use the same steps to start the SAP HANA system HDB by using the user hdbadm.

6 Data modeling scenarios for BW Administrators

In the next set of scenarios you will learn more about the new data modeling capabilities of SAP NetWeaver BW onSAP HANA.

6.1 Scenario 1 – Converting a regular InfoCube to an In-Memory Optimized InfoCube

In this section we will convert a regular InfoCube to an In-Memory Optimised InfoCube.

1. Go to transaction “RSA1”

Note:Select “InfoProvider” in theleft hand pane, if it is notalready. This shoulddisplay several folders onthe right hand pane.

2. Under the “IMO_CUBE”InfoArea locate the cube“Convert to IMO CUBE”.

3. Right click on your Cubeand select “Display”.

4. Under the “Settings” section you see one entryindicating it’s a standardInfoCube.

5. Using the menu “Extras”and select the option“Information (logs/status)”

6. In the new popup screenclick “Dictionary/DBstatus”

7. This new popup screenshould display the differenttables that form this regularInfoCube.

Notice the ‘F – Fact table’and the ‘E – Fact table’ andthe various dimensiontables are displayed asexpected.

Take a screen shot of thesetables to compare it later.

8. Back out of the two popupscreens to display theInfoCube in display mode

(Click Enter or twice)

Ensure you are in display mode for the cube before you proceed to the nextstep.

9. Use the “Goto” menu andselect the option“Conversion to SAPHANA-Optimized”.

10. In this new screen youshould already see thetechnical name of yourInfoCube populated for the

option “StandardInfoCube”.

With the default optionsselected click “execute”

(Hit F8 or )

Confirm the popupmessage indicating it wassuccessfully activated.

11. Back out of this screen togo back to the InfoCubedisplay mode.

Notice that there is a newentry under the “Settings”

section named “Subtype”indicating this is now a“SAP HANA OptimizedInfocube”

12. Now let’s look at the newtables that make up the In-memory Optimized

InfoCube.

To locate the tables, usethe menu Extras ->Information (Logs/status)-> Dictionary/DB status.

Notice that now the

InfoCube is made up of only2 tables.

Of this the “D” table is

where technical informationlike Request ID and otherrelated information.

The “F” table is where thetransaction data resides(master data SID’s and key-figures).

13. Go back to the DataWarehousing Workbenchand notice that your cubehas a new icon indicating itis an In-memory OptimizedInfoCube.

6.2 Scenario 3 – Creating a Semantically Partitioned Object (SPO)

In this section we will create a new Semantically Partitioned Object (SPO).

Step: Create a SPO object

based on InfoCube

1. Call transaction “RSA1”.

Create a new InfoArea. Forthis right mouse click in theblank space below theexisting InfoArea and select“Create InfoArea…”

In the popup screen enterthe following values:

InfoArea: IMO_SPO Long description:Semantically PartitionedObjects

2. Once created successfully,the screen should look likethis.

3. Use a right mouse click onthis InfoArea and select“Create InfoCube…”

4. In the popup screen providea technical name for theSPO.

Use the following namingconvention “SPO_01”.

Provide an appropriatedescription “SemanticallyPartitioned Infocube”.

For the Template option us

the technical name of theInfoCube that wasconverted to the In-memoryOptimized InfoCube inexercise 2 [CUBE_01].

Under the “InfoProviderType” select “Semanticallypartitioned”.

Click to create theobject.

5. Use a right mouse click onthe “Time” dimension and

select the menu option“InfoObject Direct Input”

On the popup screen enter“0CALYEAR” and hit enter.

Hit continue at the bottom ofthe screen.

6. From the second pane click“Maintain Partitions”

7. In the popup screen selectand transfer “0CALYEAR”from the left hand side tothe right hand side.

Then click ok at thebottom of the screen.

8. In the new pane createpartitions to accommodatethe previous year, currentyear and next year.

To create new partitions

click .

9. Add appropriate years tothe “From” column asshown here in thescreenshot on the righthand side.

10. Click “Save” at the topof the screen.

11. Next from the second paneclick “Start Activation”.

This will create the

necessary number of partproviders of type InfoCube.

12. You should receive aconfirmation popup screenindicating the necessarypart providers were created.

Click to “continue”.

13. Now under the section“Further Options” theoption “CreateTransformation” should beenabled.

Click “Create

Transformation” to createtransformations betweenthese part providers and thesource.

As an example let’s use theInfoCube created inexercise 2 as the source forthese part providers.

Note:In the section “Target ofthe Transformation” theObject Type “InfoSource” is selected. This is adynamically generatedInfoSource which is used toconnect the source andthese part providers.

Click to continue.

14. A generic transformation iscreated.

Note: A customer would modifythis transformation asnecessary to include anybusiness logic.

Click to activate thistransformation.

Accept any warnings thatyou receive.

15. Once the transformation isactivated successfully thenext option “Create DataTransfer Process" is

enabled. Click this tocreate a Data TransferProcess (DTP) to load eachof the part providers.

16. Under the section “DTPTemplate” create a newtemplate which allows toload from an InfoCube (as asource) to a InfoCube (as atarget)

Note:The reason we are notusing a standard template isbecause it is used to loaddata from a DataSource.

In this case we havechosen to load from anInfoCube. Hence the needto build a new DTPtemplate.

17. On the popup screen enteran appropriate description.Enter “CUBE_2_CUBE” tocreate a unique template.

Hit “Enter ” to continue.

18. In the popup screen makesure “InfoCube” is selectedas an option for the “DataSource”.

Accept the default values

for the rest of the sections.

Click “Save” to continue.

19. Next task is to create a DTPfor each of the part providerusing the template DTP thatwe just created.

For this first make sure the“InfoCube” template is

selected.

Second select all the partproviders that are createdunder this SPO.

Third select the sourceInfoCube.

Lastly click “Assign” to

create DTP for each partprovider.

20. This should assign a DTP toeach of the part providers.

Select the inactive DTP’sand click “Generate”.

21. All the DTP’s should now beassigned and active.

22. Click “Create ProcessChain” on the “Objectmaintenance” pane.

This will create a processchain and assign all theDTP’s in there.

23. Select all the DTP’s andclick on “Add” in the righthand pane to add them tothe process chain that willbe created.

24. These DTP’s should nowappear in the right handpane.

Note: Using acombination of ‘Path’ &‘Sequence’ columns youcan change the order in

which the DTP’s areexecuted (in series orparallel).

Click “Save” at the top toassign the DTP’s to theprocess chain.

25. The DTP’s should now beassigned to the processchain.

26. Click “Generate”. .

This should take you to anew screen.

In this screen click “ChangeSelection”.

27. In the new popup screenclick “Immediate” and hit

“Save”.

Click on the “MaintainStart Process” screen.

Click the “Back”button, which should takeyou back to SPOmaintainance screen.

29. Now to go transaction“RSPC” and look up theprocess chain that wasgenerated.

You should be able tolocate it in the “GeneratedBy Semanticallypartitioned Object” folder

in the “Unassigned Nodes”folder

You will notice that asexpected the DTP’s will nowrun in parallel

7 Using Mixed Scenarios with SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA

In the following scenarios we will combine data from SAP NetWeaver BW (Budget Information) with data stored in aHANA table (Actuals).

The actuals are stored in a HANA table which is updated by credit card data in real-time. Based on this Expense tablethe session will work with two HANA calculation views:

CalcView 1 (Detailed) : expenses per employee including employee ID

CalcView 2 (Aggregated): expenses per cost center including an employee counter

Beside the real-time data we also have normal staged BW data where the cost budget for each cost center is beenplanned:

7.1 Scenario 1 – Using a Composite Provider to join Transient Provider with a Data Store Object


Step: Create a TransientProvider to publish the

HANA model to BW

1. Login to the system

Drag the Transient Providerto the right hand pane (inthe white space), which isthe modeling area.

6. A popup screen to selectthe join type should appear.

This join type is the relationof the Transient Provider tothe Output / further object to join.

Change Binding Type to

“Union” and click confirm

9. Make sure the Binding Type

is set to “Join”.

10. Use the default value for the Alias Name.

11. Confirm the values .

Note: This secondprovider acts as the right part ofthe join and this is where wecan specify if the secondobjects joins with the first object

In the modeling area yousee now all necessaryobjects:

1. All fields of yourTransient Provider

2. Output / target list todefine the structure or resultof your Composite Provider

3. All InfoObjects of theDataStore Object

Note: Notice that thetitle of the second objectedadded has ‘Inner Join’.

13. Drag and drop the field“COST_CENTER” of theTransient Provider to theOutput in the middle.

Note: Also make sure youdrag from the DSO to the outputand not the other way around.

In addition also add thefollowing fields to theoutput:

EXPENSE_TYPE

CURRENCY

CALMONTH

AMOUNT

The output should now have allthe fields mentioned above fromthe Transient Provider in theoutput.

14. Map the fields of the“ZBDGT DSO” to theOutput by drag and drop.

Note: Also make sure

you drag from the DSO tothe output and not the other

way around.

Start by connecting “CostCenter ” from the DSO tothe output fieldCOST_CENTER.

This will define a joincondition on these twofields.

15. Second join the “Calendaryear/month” field of theDSO to output field“CALMONTH”.

With this the necessaryfields for join condition aredefined correctly.

16. Now add “Currency Key”and “Company code” tothe output.

Note: Make sure youadd “Currency Key” to theoutput without a join.Basically dragging them tothe bottom of the output list. As this will result inquerying only records

where common currenciesexist.

Note: If the currencyand unit fields are addedprior to adding key-figuresthe system willautomatically associate theright key-figure with theright currency/unit.

17. Finally add key figure“Amount” of the DataStoreObject to the output. (Donot join the two Amountfields, since we need bothof them as separate fields).

Note: The system automaticallyrecognizes that “CurrencyKey” is the correspondingcurrency for the Key Figureand assigned it by itself.

18. Change the properties ofthe “Output” fields.

Use a right-click and openthe context menu on the“Amount” field (ofTransientProvider) and,select the menu ChangeProperty -> Change.

This key figure coming fromTransientProvider isshowing the actual valuehence change the nameand long description to“Actuals”

Since there is no currencykey assigned so far, pleaseselect “CURRENCY”.

19. Do the same for the other“Amount” field from theDSO which is Budgetvalues. Change thedescription to Budget

20. All join types and outputfield are now assigned.You screen should like this.

21. Change the Description ofyour CompositeProvider to“Actuals & Budget” &under Info-area select“TPCP”

8 Using BW Workspaces with SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA

8.1 Scenario Overview

A BW Workspace is a dedicated area in a BW system where new models can be created based on central BW andlocal data (e.g. flat files). Workspaces can be maintained and controlled by IT and used by local departments to react

quickly to new and changing requirements. Workspaces can bridge the gap between central governance requirementsand local flexibility needs.

There is no need to copy central data of the SAP NetWeaver BW to the BW Workspace. The administrator simplyassigns the relevant InfoProviders in a BW Workspace. Local data can be uploaded in the BW Workspace Designer bythe key user in the line of business and can then be merged in new data models.

Reference Query: Choose an SAP Business Explorer Analyzer query as a Reference. Referenced queries

can be all queries based on the MultiProvider used for the CompositeProvider. Changes to the Referenced

query have an immediate effect on the Reference Query. The Referenced query can only contain fields that

are also contained in the CompositeProvider. However, if it contains other characteristics in the free

characteristics, these are removed in the Reference Query.

In General: You can change the suggested technical name as well as the description of a query except for

the ‘$’ sign in front and the prefix (in case this has been maintained in the Workspace settings).

In the following sections you can use the installed components and review some of the pre-configured assets, such asa Composite Provider and leverage the functionality of SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA combined with SAPBusinessObjects BI 4.x

9.1 Configuring your mobile device

You can use the following steps to configure the hosted SAP BusinessObjects BI environment and your mobile deviceto leverage the SAP Mobile BI application, so that you can view your BI content on your mobile device.

9.1.1 Installation on iOS:

You can download the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client application from the App Store via the iTunessoftware. Then synchronize the downloaded application with your iPad device.

Technical Pre-Requisites

Microsoft Office needs to be installed on the client system. To see a list of supported Microsoft Office version youcan refer to the list of supported platforms on http://service.sap.com/bosap-support .

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable Package is required.

Primary Interop Assemblies for Microsoft Office are required.

The account being used for the installation should have administrative rights on the system.

1. After you downloaded the software you can start the installation routine by starting SapAaoSetup.exe.2. In the first step you will be presented with the Welcome screen for the installation of SAP BusinessObjects

Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office.3. In the second step you can select the components for the installation.

4. In the next step you can configure the destination folder for the installation.5. After these steps the actual installation process will get started and you should be able to use SAP

With SAP NetWeaver BW on SAP HANA you can leverage this unique integration and generate a SAP HANAmodel based on existing assets in SAP NetWeaver BW.

In the first exercise you will use a SAP NetWeaver BW InfoProvider and generate a SAP HANA Analytical view based

on the existing meta-data from the SAP InfoProvider.

10.8.2 Exercise 2: Creating a Query Snapshot

In the next steps we will leverage a SAP BEx query and generate a snapshot of the data and an SAP HANA Analyticalview on top of the newly generated data.

A query result cannot be indexed if the query meets one of the following conditions:

It is an input-ready query. An aggregation level is used as the InfoProvider.

Input-ready mandatory variables are used in the query. (As indexing runs in the background, no entries can bemade.)

The query contains a temporal hierarchy join. (The result cannot be stored in a "flat" index.)

The query contains more than one structure

Calculations in the query cannot be performed before aggregation. Indexing can be performed despite this, butthe relevant key figures cannot be used in every context.

Local aggregation is used. The system ingores this during indexing. (The query result in the OLAP Engine isnot the same as the one that the user sees.)

The technical name of the query is more than 20 letters long. An index ID is formed from the query name.There is a technical limitation for this.

To be able to index the snapshot of a query result in the SAP HANA database, you first need to activate the query.Select the query in question on the SAP HANA/BWA Index Maintenance screen (transaction RSDDB) and choose

Release Query as InfoProvider. If no restrictive conditions apply, the system informs you in the next dialog that thequery has been activated for indexing in the SAP HANA database. The query result is given the read mode Query toRead All Data at Once (A) (see Read Mode), which means that the free characteristics are also used in GROUP BY.
