• a type of writing where the purpose is to inform, describe, explain, or define the author's subject to the reader.

EXPOSITORY TEXT• is meant to deposit information.

Examples: driving directions, instructions on how to do something, news articles, biographies, brochures, autobiographies, reviews, magazine articles, speeches, etc.

CAUSE & EFFECT• FIND THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE

EVENTS.• THE CAUSES MAKE THE EFFECTS HAPPEN.• USE A MULTI-FLOW MAP.• CAN START WITH EITHER THE CAUSES OR

EFFECTS-DOESN’T MATTER.• Example: History textbook-causes & effects of

the Civil War.
