• Achish asked David to come with him to fight against Israel. David was caught between the dilemma of his loyalty to Achish and loyalty for his nation and king Saul.

• David goes with Achish but God divinely rescues David from going in battle against his own people.

2) Being controlled by discouragement is our choice

Nehemiah 6: 9 They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

3) Trust and Confidence comes from our time with God

Psalm 1:1-2 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night

4) How we finish is very crucial and it depends on the decisions we make while on while on journey

2 Timothy 4:6-8 6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Philippians 2: 5-8 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mind-set as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
