St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place every Monday
(except holidays) from 2-6:45 PM
And on each First Friday from 7:30- 8:30PM
Please come and spend some quiet
time with the Blessed Sacrament
Our Lady of Fatima Devotion
The 1st Saturday of each month will be
devoted to Our Lady of Fatima. The devotion
will include 8am Mass, Novena to Fatima / the
Rosary, Confessions after Mass and fellowship
in Carew Hall at 9am.
Our Lady came to Fatima with a message from God to eve-
ry man, woman, and child of our century. Our Lady of Fat-
ima promised that the whole world would be in peace, and
that many souls would go to Heaven if Her requests were
listened to and obeyed. Please join us in this devotion.
St Joseph’s Parish Monthly Recollection
On the First Friday of every month, at 7:30 PM, we hold our Monthly Parish Recollection. This is an hour of pray-
er, of recollection before our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament - whose Sacred Heart is the source of immense
charity and generous love. The foundation of this prayer is God’s presence in our souls as Creator, Preserver, and
Author of Graces (“in Him we live, and move, and are” Acts 17:28). God is our Father, and our Friend and is our
sweet Guest. We must acknowledge the realization of this great truth: God is in each of us, our soul is His Temple.
This prayer of recollection includes the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction, Praying of the
Psalms, Silence, Gospel Reading and a Talk /Reflection on the following topics: The Cardinal Virtues of pru-
dence, justice, temperance and fortitude. The Theological Virtues of faith, hope and love. The gifts of the Holy
Spirit; wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.
Every soul, hungry & thirsty for God, is invited to this holy hour every First Friday of the month to
adore, venerate & contemplate the Sacred Heart of Jesus, & to have a quiet dialogue with God.

OUR LITURGY
Having been imprisoned by King Herod, Peter is miraculously freed to continue his mission. Paul writes to Timothy about God’s faithfulness. The Gospel recalls a key question asked by Jesus: Who do you say that I am? For his answer, Simon Peter is entrusted with the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.

Welcome, Fr. Michael Rieder! May God bless you as you undertake the task
of leading us in our mission...
We strive daily to be a community of believers alive in Christ.
We pray, play, and worship as a community alive in the life of the Eucharist.
In our diversity and in a spirit of reconciliation we journey toward God.
We are a community of many backgrounds, united in a spirit of forgiving and forgiven as we
continue to draw closer to God.
Our faith finds expression in worship.
Because we believe, we are able to bring life to our Sunday and daily liturgies.
Our love is the center of care for all people.
All groups, all ages, all genders, all races, and people of varied backgrounds find a blessing
and a haven in our midst.
And because of all this...
Our hope is the longed-for promise of union with God, and with each other, as we
continue the mission of proclaiming the kingdom at Saint Joseph’s in Ronkonkoma.

Respect Life
POLST Warning – Part III. POLST stands for
'Physician Orders for Life- Sustaining Treatment'. A
publication distributed by the Pro-life Healthcare Alliance
(PHA) entitled "Informed, A guide for critical medical
decisions," warns of the dangers of a POLST.
The publication also warns that Living Wills can be
dangerous: "In a Living Will, you request or refuse life-
sustaining treatment for some future illness or injury based
on pure guesswork. Also, when hospitalized, your
attending physician may be a stranger who does a poor job
of interpreting your wishes, particularly if they do not share
your values. Worse yet, a physician can be disciplined for
failing to comply with your Living Will's refusal of treatment
unless the physician attempts to transfer you to a physician
who will comply. Therefore, a Living Will may tie the hands
of a physician who values your life and whose skills could
restore you to health."
The Pro-life Healthcare Alliance recommends a Durable
Power of Attorney for Health Care. You appoint an agent
(a family member or friend) – some- one you trust to make
decisions for you when you are unable. "Your agent will
endeavor to honor your values while basing decisions on
current information (your condition, treatment options,
likely outcomes, etc.) provided by medical
professionals...It is wise to choose someone who (1)
genuinely respects human life and is capable of making
morally sound medical decisions for you, (2) will ask
questions in order to base decisions on the best medical
information and advice available, (3) will not be easily
intimidated by medical professionals or terminology, and
(4) will obtain a second opinion or legal advice if
necessary. Discuss your wishes with your agent when you
sign your DPAHC and periodically thereafter, as your
circumstances and perspective may change over time. A
DPAHC is essential for anyone who is 18 years or older.
To be certain that a person you trust will make medical
decisions for you if you become incapacitated, you must
specifically name that person in a legal document."
For more information, or to obtain a copy of the publication
described in paragraph one, contact the Human Life
Alliance, 651-484-1040; www.humanlife.org To obtain a
Protective Medical Decisions Document packet specific to
your state, contact the Patients Rights Council, PO Box
760, Steubenville OH 43952. Phone: 1-800-958-5678.

Spiritual Adoption
Month Two
Developing Baby
Your baby is making progress devel-oping all of his/her external features
and internal organs. His/her brain is functioning at 40 days. His/her mother can hear his/her heartbeat now on an ultrasonic stethoscope. Milk-teeth buds are pre-sent at 6 ½ weeks. From this moment, your spiritually adopted baby grows and refines his/her body. Every-thing he/she needs to survive once he/she is born is already present by the end of the eighth week.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul Gives Back
St. Joseph’s Church should share in the profits. For each car, truck or van, running or not. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will give back to our church $50/$100 per ve-hicle. Maybe you don’t have a vehicle, but a family member, friend or neighbor has an old or neglected vehicle in their driveway that they would like to dispose of. Call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at (718) 491-2525. Thank you for your participation.
