0Meyer’s Gazetteer: Accessing the Online VersionAccessing the online version of the gazetteer is easy! Just follow these simple steps…

1. Begin by going to Ancestry.com. If you are at the Family History Library or a family history center, go to Ancestryinstitution.com.

2. Go to Ancestry’s card catalog.

3. In the card catalog keyword search type the word “Meyers” and click search.

4. Click on the link “Meyers Gazetteer of the German Empire (in German)”

5. Next is to search for the place. You can either type the

town name into the key word search, or use the “Browse this collection” drop down box to choose a page of the gazetteer.

6. Once on the gazetteer page, you can manipulate the image using the tools box and the zoom buttons. You can also save the page by

selecting the save button in the right hand corner.

7. To change the page click on the letter in the left hand corner, or the town names if searching for another town that starts with the same letter.
