“Exploring Structural Element Of A Short Story

Using Semantic Web”

What is Short Story?

A short story is a short work of fiction. Novels

are another example of fictional prose and are

much longer than short stories. If a short story

is a long one, say fifty to one hundred pages,

we call it a novella.

What is Semantic Web?

The Semantic Web is an extension of the

current web in which information is given

well-defined meaning, better enabling

computers and people to work in cooperation.

What are the 5 elements of short story?

1) CHARACTER

A character is a person, or sometimes even

an animal, who takes part in the action of a

short story or other literary work.

2) SETTING

The setting of a short story is the time and place

in which it happens. Authors often use

descriptions of landscape, scenery, buildings,

seasons or weather to provide a strong sense of

setting.

3) PLOT

A plot is a series of events and character actions

that relate to the central conflict.

4) CONFLICT

The conflict is a struggle between two people or

things in a short story. The main character is

usually on one side of the central conflict.

5) THEMES

The theme is the central idea or belief in a

short story.

Semantic Web

Is a model for encoding semantic relationships

between items of data so that these

relationships can be interpreted

computationally.

Distribution Data

People who work on the Semantic Web have a

more detailed idea of what this broad

statement means, and base their work on the

famous "semantic web tower", a product of

Tim Berners-Lee's inspiring drawing on

whiteboards. Even if you are not a geek, you

might have read some article on the semantic

web, or followed some presentation, and then

you will surely have met the tower, which is a

drawing like this.
