The definition of the word experiment: any action or process undertaken to discover something not yet known, captures the essence of what I have been exploring in this group of patterns.

I love to look at nature for inspiration especially texture. I also look at images in current trends as well as found documents. I like how painting gives variation and added interest to a pattern. As an artist it can be a challenge to put this random and fluid feel into repeat for potential end use. However, my textile design experience has become a natural skill and cad software is a comfortable tool to expedite this process.

In this group I worked with layering and manipulating images: sometimes with the same image, different scales and/or combining different patterns together. I was particularly interested in how the images, when layered together made something new. One of my favorite parts of the creative process is the experimentation of putting images together and seeing a pleasing outcome appear; one that is not pre-imagined yet pleasing to the eye in its complexity.

I envision these images in a variety of end use surfaces whether textile, carpet, solid surface, repeated or individual printed image.

I hope you enjoy looking….I welcome your feedback and can’t wait to hear from you!
