Dryden Development Corporation



The future of Dryden, Ontario is shaping up to be golden with the recent developments that the Dryden Development Corporation announced in July . The successful facilitation of seven continuous mining properties in Van Horne Township with mineral exploration firm Laurentian Goldfields Ltd. was finalized. Working in consultation with Grand Council Treaty #3, the Dryden Development Corporation and Laurentian foresee that the City of Dryden and neighbouring communities will directly benefit from the newly established relationship.

This is welcome news for Dryden, a community who has seen the transition in the forest industry take its toll. The DDC is the Dryden Development Corporation and owns 12 patent land claims in the area of interest and the revenue that will be generated by the Option Agreement with Laurentian will be used to further diversify the community’s economic base through other project development initiatives.

With over 70 active mining exploration projects in the Kenora Mining Division the DDC is positioning itself to become Ontario’s Northwest Mining Service Centre. Located on the Trans Canada Highway #17 with easy access and north-south links to markets in the USA via Hwy #502 new opportunities for prosperity exist.

The key role of the DDC is to facilitate investment and employment opportunities. Building relationships with the local suppliers and attracting new businesses/dealerships is a priority to satisfy the requirements of exploration companies with on-time delivery, quality materials, equipment and services. The DDC believes developing local capacity to support and sustain exploration companies is necessary to achieve long-term sustainable development.

In addition, the DDC is working with government, educators and contractors to build the human resource skills required for available positions. With the decline in the forest industry the DDC is seizing the opportunity to move these displaced workers that have multiple transferrable skill sets into the mining sector.

Regional Economic Development Officers are currently working on a Mineral Development Initiative to monitor and promote the mineral potential and sustainable development in the Kenora District. The Mines and Mineral Sector is going to have a positive impact on the economic and social well-being of these communities and the DDC wants to be part of their success.

The DDC has produced this Mineral Exploration Resource Guide to assist companies who wish to locate in Dryden. This guide is to serve as a regional service and supply directory to provide the companies operating in the greater Dryden area access to information on government, human resources and other supply and service providers located in the Dryden area.
