We know you’ve heard pleas like …We know you’ve heard pleas like …
There are digits transposed in this class number but I can’t fix it – can someone help?
I discovered a problem in the new record I created last week … but other institutions have used the record so I can’t fix the problem
There’s a typo in the title in the CIP Record that affects access. I can add the physical description … but I can’t fix the typo!
This heading is controlled to the wrong authority record but I can’t fix it … and I don’t have time to do a change request.
There’s an authority record that this heading should be controlled to but, since it changes the heading, the system won’t let me replace the record.
Expert Community ExperimentExpert Community Experiment
Experiment to test “social cataloging” with OCLC’s expert community (modeled on Wikipedia)
Interest and motivation from WorldCat Local pilot sites that want to use WorldCat Local as their “database of record”
Expert Community ExperimentExpert Community Experiment
Allows member libraries with full-level Cataloging authos to make additions and changes to almost all fields in almost all records
• PCC records (both BIBCO and CONSER) are excluded
• LC records not coded as PCC are included
• CIP records (not coded as PCC) can be changed but the Encoding Level must remain ‘8’
Some Guiding Principles …Some Guiding Principles …
As with Enhance
Do no harm!
And
If in doubt, don’t!
Expert Community ExperimentExpert Community Experiment
Experiment will begin mid-February and will last about 6 months
No need for new authorizations; all existing full-level authorizations will have the new capabilities
OCLC staff will have new reports that assist in monitoring and evaluating
New Product CodeNew Product Code
Experiment replaces counted under a new product code
ONT6390
This product code will appear on invoices (with other similar product codes)
No credit associated with the new product code …
• OCLC will monitor new activity and determine a lump sum credit adjustment later in the experiment
Doing the ReplaceDoing the Replace
For client users
• You can replace a record without locking it first
• You can do replaces in batches
For browser users
• You must lock the record first
Sharing ExperiencesSharing Experiences
We’ll ask member libraries to use OCLC-CAT ([email protected]) as a means of sharing their experiences
A new generic email ([email protected]) will also be available for questions

What about the Future of Enhance? What about the Future of Enhance?
We’ve started talking with Enhance participants about some possible ways to expand Enhance capabilities:
• Some merging capabilities
• Headings maintenance
We’ll continue to talk about this during the experiment
