There’s a lot of innovation that wentinto [the mannequins] and it’s probablythe most lifelike simulation that I’veencountered. There’s so much attentionto detail…a lot of thought that’s goneinto the education process and toteaching it.”– Harold "Hal" Reed, D.D.S., M.S.

Clinical Associate Professor, PeriodonticsWest Virginia University School of Dentistry

• Achieving intra-osseous hemostasis on a “bleeding mandible”

• Removing broken tooth roots with periotomesand elevators

• Taking cortical-cancellous block grafts from thelateral mandible and chin

• Performing sinus lifts with or withoutsimultaneous implant placement

Restorative ExperiencePatient restorative experiences are an integralcomponent of the program. All restorative steps arecompleted through delivery of final prosthesis, including:

• Making a temporary crown using a temporaryabutment

• Making a transitional fixed detachable appliance

• Sectioning a mal-fitting bar, connecting with resin, and sending to lab

• Designing and performing all “dental office steps”for a maxillary bar overdenture

Implant SurgeryThe fundamentals of implant surgery are taught withan emphasis on hands-on practice. Newly designed, custom models are the foundation of these courseswhich include:

• Flap design and suturing

• Phase 2 surgery

• Techniques for obtaining "intra-osseous" hemostasis

Simulated Patient ScenariosSimulated patient surgical scenarios provide real-world clinical experience. The variety of case studiesaccurately reflects the clinical situations practitionerswill encounter in their practices. Experiences include:

• Reflecting, repositioning and suturing muco-periosteal flaps

From surgery to restorative, and from basic to advanced, every attendee has the opportunity to enroll in courses thatcomplement their background and training.
