Lufthansa Flight 1378 touched down at Gdansk Airport in Northern Poland,

and I was greeted by Wayne Cheneler, a man so passionate about shooting pistols and semi auto rifl es he has bought his own range to do just that in Poland.

The Obuchowo rangeThe Audi sped us along the motorway for an hour and a half to Hotel Elektor in the town of Morag. Wayne who founded Dynamic Shooting together with his two Polish business partners have built a series of shooting ranges on an isolated one time Army garrison fi ve minutes away from Morag in Obuchowo. The Obuchowo range was so secret

that the residents of Morag did not know it was there, yet it consists of bunkers with meter thick walls, which make an ideal armoury, three pistol ranges and a 300 meter rifl e range.

Dynamic Shooting offers a wide range of pursuits; in addition to shooting there is Archery, and bushcraft survival courses canoeing in the lakes surrounding this idyllic spot.

Pistols and rifl esInstructors Marcin and Robert took me on a practical shooting course. I shot reasonably with a Glock 17 at steel knock down plates and cardboard IPSC targets. My time was very slow, being rusty and dogged by arthritis, nevertheless it was a thrilling experience, and on day

two I got to play with AK47, AR 15, M1 carbine and an UZI.

Wayne is fi ne tuning his weekend break packages for people who would like to experience what was taken from us after Hungerford in 1988 and Dunblane in 1996. Apart from rigid safety the venue is friendly and informal - it felt relaxed with no one breathing down your neck.

The Hotel was comfortable with a superb buffet breakfast and the Park restaurant nearby served a varied culinary selection - thanks to Wayne menus in English. I was astonished that

a meal for four with beers only came to £28.00.

While the Sportsman’s Association continue to campaign for the return of pistol shooting in the UK, a trip to Poland will I am sure encourage British shooters to rejuvenate this worthy cause to get our sport back that was so unjustly and savagely taken from us.

To arrange a memorable trip for a group of 8-10 contact Wayne Cheneler - you won’t be disappointed.
