Thermostatic expansion valves,type T 2 and TE 2
Therefore the valves are especially suitable forliquid injection in ”dry“ evaporators where thesuperheat at the evaporator outlet is proportionalto the evaporator load.
Large temperature rangeEqually applicable to freezing, refrigerationand air conditioning applications.
Interchangeable orifice assemblyeasier stockingeasy capacity matchingbetter service.
 Rated capacities from 0.5 to 15.5 kW(0.15 to 4.5 TR) for R 22
Can be supplied with MOP(Max. Operating Pressure)Protects the compressor motor againstexcessive evaporating pressure during normaloperation.
Patented double contact bulbFast and easy to install.Good temperature transfer from pipe to bulb.
Valves for special temperature ranges can besupplied.

DesignFunction
GeneralT 2 and TE 2 valves have an interchangeableorifice assembly.
For the same valve type and refrigerant, theassociated orifice assembly is suitable for allversions of valve body and in all evaporatingtemperature ranges. The charge in the thermostatic element dependson the evaporating temperature range. The valves can be equipped with internal (T 2) orexternal (TE 2) pressure equalization.External pressure equalization should always beused on systems with liquid distributors.
The double contact bulb gives fast and precisereaction to temperature changes in theevaporator. It also makes fitting the bulb quick andeasy. The valves are able to withstand the effects thatnormally occur with hot gas defrosting.
To ensure long operating life, the valve coneand seat are made of a special alloy withparticularly good wear qualities.

Identification
Element label
Orifice assembly and filterfor T 2 and TE 2
The thermostatic element is fitted with a laserengraving on top of the diaphragm.
This engraving gives valve type (with codenumber), evaporating temperature range, MOPpoint, refrigerant, and max. working pressure,PB/MWP.
The code refers to the refrigerant for which thevalve is designed:
X = R 22Z = R 407CN = R 134aS = R 404A/ R507
Orifice assembly for T 2 and TE 2The orifice assembly is marked with the orificesize (e.g. 06) and week stamp + last number inthe year (e.g. 279).The orifice assembly number is also given onthe lid of its plastic container.
Capillary tube labelT 2 and TE 2
Capillary tube label for T 2 and TE 2The label gives the orifice size (04) and consistsof the lid of the orifice assembly plastic contai-ner. It can easily be fastened around theexpansion valve capillary tube to clearly identifythe valve size.

Thermostatic expansion valve,type TUB/TUBE and TUC/TUCE
Introduction The TU series of thermostatic expansionvalves has been developed for soldering intohermetic refrigeration systems.TU valves are made of stainless steel and aretherefore very suitable for use in the foodindustry.TU valves can be used in many forms ofrefrigeration systems, in particular:- Traditional refrigeration systems- Heat pump systems- Air conditioning units- Refrigeration appliances- Liquid coolers- Ice cube machines- Mobile refrigeration systems
All variants are available in both single packsand industrial packs as required by thecustomer.
TUB/TUBE have adjustable superheat and areavailable in angleway versions as standard.
TUC/TUCE have fixed superheat, but areotherwise identical to TUB.
TUB/TUBE and TUC/TUCE can be deliveredin straightway versions.
All straightway versions and TUC valves areproduced to order and therefore this cataloguecontains no description of a standard range orcode numbers.
TU valves are also available in a number ofvariants that give countless combinationpossibilities.Contact Danfoss for further information.

Note:Insufficient subcooling can produce flash gas.
Correction for subcooling tsubThe evaporator capacity used must becorrected if subcooling deviates from 4 K.The corrected capacity can be obtained bydividing the evaporator capacity by thecorrection factor given below.
Since the expansion valve capacity must beequal to or slightly more than the correctedevaporator capacity of 2.7 kW, a TUB/TUBEwith orifice 5 and a table capacity of 2.8 kWwould be a suitable choice.
Refrigerant = R 22Evaporating temperature te = 10°CPressure drop in valve p = 10 barSubcooling tsub = 15 KEvaporator capacity = 3 kWCorrection value (table) = 1.11The corrected evaporator capacity thusbecomes 3 divided by 1.11 = 2.7 kW

Liquid distributors, type 69G,for thermostatic expansion valves
Introduction
The 69G distributes refrigerant liquid from thethermostatic expansion valve to the individualsections of the evaporator.
Note! The thermostatic expansion valve must haveexternal pressure equalization.
Approvals PRS, Poland
Selection of liquiddistributor
The following data must be known:1. Refrigerant2. Evaporator capacity3. Evaporating temperature4. Number of evaporator sections5. Expansion valve type
It is then possible to determine:I. Size of distributor tubes
The capacity of the individual distributor tubeis calculated by dividing the total evaporator
capacity by the number of uniform evaporatorsections. The tube diameter can then be foundin table I or the graph below.Sizing should be based on the averagecapacity of the evaporator. A sufficiently uni-form distribution can be expected at capacitiesof between 40% and 125% of the values givenin table I.
II. Code number (Industrial pack only)See table II.

Capacity
It is recommended that distributor tubes be sizedfor a pressure drop of approx. 0.5 bar. Table I,which gives the capacities for different tubesizes, is based on this pressure drop. For tubelengths exceeding 1 m, tubes should be selected
with larger diameters than indicated in table I. Thefigure shows the relation betweenevaporator capacity Qe, refrigerant, tubediameter, evaporating temperature te andpressure drop p for 1 m distributor tubes.

Please note:Some of the mentionedcode numbers are notestablished in thesystem and will only beestablished in case of acertain minimum order(pcs./year).
Selection exampleGiven:1. Refrigerant = R 222. Evaporator capacity Qe = 24 kW3. Evaporating temperature te = 15°C4. Number of evaporator sections = 105. Expansion valve type = TEX 12 with 78 in.
ODF solder connection on outlet side.
The capacity for the individual distributor tube is24 10 = 2.4 kW.Using table I or the graphs on the previouspage, it can be seen that at an evaporating tem-
perature of –15°C for R 22 a 14 in. tube, 1 m long, will yield 2.4 kW.A liquid distributor with the same connection asthe expansion valve outlet can now be found i.e.78 in. ODM solder with holes for 14 in. distributortubes.Table II gives the code no. for this distributor:069G3002.The number of distributor tubes is the same asthe number of evaporator sections; in thisexample, 10.The distributor can thus be ordered:069G3002 with 10 holes.
