existing cd covers

Existing CD covers:
As well as taking pictures of an existing CD
cover, I decided to analyse them further to
ensure that I gain the best possible
understanding of what is needed to make a
successful and appealing CD cover.
The bands name is
clearly shown at the top
of the CD
An extra marketing
technique is used to
tell buyers that the
CD is a restored
version of the
classic single. This
will not be needed
for my CD cover as
it is a fairly recent
song.
The title is
big and
bold, attractin
g attention
straight away.
The colours
contrast
strongly with
the black and
white image
shown in the
background
The image shown in the
background is pretty
powerful, it is eye-catching
and gives the audience an
indication as to what genre the
CD is; punk/rock.
Front View:
Middle View:The image behind the clear
plastic casing can be seen
with the CD.
The CD
itself has
the band
name, the
title of the
album as
well as
other
information.
The leaflet
which goes
alongside the
CD again has
the title of the
album with the
band name
below it.
Images of the band
performing are also
shown, this may be
of interest to fans.
Producers name
etc.Production company.
The Whole View:
Back View:The big, bold title attracts
attention , it is obvious
that this is the title of the
CD.
The artists
names are
shown here, it
gives people
information
about who is
who in the
band and what
instrument
they play.
Barcode.
Production studio.
Images of the
band
members
performing, pr
esumably in
concert.
The track
numbers
and titles.
The Leaflet Content:
The inside of this leaflet
contained a copy of the lyrics
for each of the tracks featured
on the CD. This would appeal
to many people who wish to
know what the lyrics are when
they are listening to a song.
The presentation of it is very
nice and once again fits in with
the punk/rock genre of the
band, it looks almost hand
written, giving it a personal feel.
Overall...
After looking at this CD cover I can see that the
aesthetics of it is just as important as the content. When
making my CD cover I will need to consider the genre of
the music I am using as the colour and images I use will
need to reflect this.
