Existing rock magazines include Rock Sound, Kerrang! and AP (Alternative Press). A common

convection in these magazines front covers is that the colour schemes include mainly the colours black,

white, red and yellow. These are the colours that seemed to be used a lot in rock magazines. A lot of the cover models are male and wear

dark clothing in clothes of black and grey. When a female cover model is used they are generally dressed in edgy clothing like leather jackets and have dyed hair, coloured in

eccentric colours.

A rock magazine contents page includes generally more than one image, usually one

of the images included on the contents page is of a concert or a gig. The issue’s number / date of issue is also included in a lot of rock magazine’s

contents pages which helps those who collect the

magazines to order them in issues.

Double page spreads in rock magazines are

generally interviews with popular and relevant

bands and artists. Drop caps are used in rock

magazine articles and also pull quotes on the page are a key convention.
