2020 ROYAL CANBERRA CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW

The following information has been provided to assist exhibitors during their time at the Showground. If you need further information or clarification please contact the Dog Team Steward (02) 6161 1944 or 0402 847 687 between 9 am and 9 pm.

ENTRY PASSES

One (1) carpark pass and one (1) three day show entry pass will be provided prior to the Royal Canberra Show. If it can be justified that more passes are required please email [email protected].

CARPARK ENTRY

On each day of judging, entry to the car park is from 6 am and is via the normal dog gate on Old Well Station Road and is for Dog exhibitors only. Entry for Dog exhibitors will only be through these two gates on Old Well Station Road. No vehicle access will be permitted at any other showground gates. In order to enter the carpark, your Dog car parking pass MUST be completed with your name, car registration number and mobile phone number and MUST be displayed on the vehicle dashboard at all times.

DOG EXERCISING AND BOUNDARIES

You may exercise and toilet your dog within the Dog Section Showgrounds but not within the show rings. All dogs entered in the show MUST remain within the bounds of the Dog Section Showgrounds and are not to be taken onto the EPIC grounds. Please refer to the map for details of boundaries. You are reminded also that you must pick up after your dog. Bags and dedicated bins are available around all the rings.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink with you on the day. There will be a number of food and beverage choices available throughout the Showground footprint. External takeaway options are not permitted to be brought into the showground or EPIC footprint.

SMOKING

Smokers are reminded that areas within and around the dog show rings, marshalling areas and food outlets are NON SMOKING areas. Please be mindful of people and dogs around you to ensure the comfort of exhibitors and members of the public.

CATALOGUES

Catalogues can be pre-paid with your entry and collected on the day at the Show Office. There will be some catalogues available for purchase on the day but these will be limited.

CHALLENGE AND BEST OF BREED CERTIFICATES

Challenge Certificates will be available from the Show Office. Best of Breed Certificates will be available to pick up on Group Specials Day.

GAZEBOS, EQUIPMENT AND SET UP

This is NOT a benched show. Please bring your own shade protection and ensure you have plenty of water and cooling facilities for the welfare of your dogs. Set up is from 6 am Friday morning. Space around rings 1-4 will be just adequate for each days judging and areas may not be held for the duration of the show.

Exhibitors are advised that temporary shade structures (gazebos/tents) may be erected under the power lines as long as they do not exceed 2.5 metres in height and are earthed. Space around the upper dog rings (rings 1 to 4) will be just adequate for each day’s judging and areas may not be “held” for the duration of the show. Tarpaulins, tents, gazebos, ropes, pegs, etc. left around these rings prior to and after the day of actual judging or before 6 am on Friday morning will be removed. After 6 am Friday morning, equipment may be left at owners’ risk, adjacent to the lower rings (rings 5 to 8). The limit of this area will be clearly marked on the ground approx. 12 metres south of the upper rings.

ACCESS AND PARKING PROVISIONS

On each day of judging entry to the car park is by means of the normal dog gate (Gate 6A) on Wells Station Road from 6 am and is for dog exhibitors only. Entry for dog exhibitors will only be through the gates on Wells Station Road. No vehicle access will be permitted at any other gates. You MUST complete and display your dog car parking pass, on your car’s dashboard at all times in order to enter the carpark. Exhibitors are advised to allow sufficient time for possible traffic & parking delays. Your car pass must be completed with the following details:-

• name • car registration number • and contact mobile number

DISABLED PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

A number of DISABLED PARKING SPACES will be provided for dog exhibitors who hold and display a Government issued disabled parking permit. Cars with no permit displayed and parked in the disabled parking area are liable to be towed away under the provisions of the By-Laws of RNCAS.

JUDGING DETAILS

All group winners and class in group winners are required to attend on Sunday 1 March 2020 for General Specials. Hounds, Working Dogs, Utility, Gundogs, Toys - All breeds scheduled plus Breed winners from the previous days judging required to attend on Saturday 29 February 2020. Hounds, Working Dogs and Utility - only Group winners and Class in Group winners required to attend on Sunday 1 March 2020. Toys, Terriers, Non-Sporting and Gundogs - All breeds scheduled plus Breed winners from the previous days judging required to attend on Sunday 1 March 2020. All Baby of the Day winners are required to attend on Sunday 1 March 2020 for General Specials. There will be no Baby in Group Awards. Please check the order of judging and approximate times which will be available after close of entries as they may differ from published schedules.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Podium photographs will be taken after judging within the Ingrid Matschke Photography marquee. Exhibitors will be able to purchase official photographs from Ingrid Matschke Photography.

FIRST AID

First Aid facilities will be available through the Dog Section Show Office.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Exhibitors are reminded that they should not leave their personal belongings unattended. Personal items brought onto the Showgrounds are the responsibility of the exhibitor and no liability for loss or damage will be accepted by the RNCAS or associated Dog Section Team. Any lost property not collected will be donated to charity.

WELFARE

The RNCAS is concerned about the health and welfare of all animals exhibited. February and March in the ACT can be quite warm and exhibitors should be mindful of their dogs and the heat. Water should always be available for them to drink. Shelter from the heat should be provided for yourselves and your dogs. Fans can be brought with you to aid with cooling and ensure the comfort of your dog. If you are concerned about your dog and you require a Veterinarian, please contact the Dog Section Show Office who will contact one for you. Conditions are likely to be hot and dusty. Weather forecasts for Canberra are available on the Bureau of Meteorology website. Ensure that you come prepared for yourself and your canine friends with plenty of water, shade and wet weather gear in the event of rain. Temperatures can be high and under NO circumstances should dogs be left unattended in vehicles. Dogs found to be left in vehicles or trailers without water will be reported to authorities and appropriate measures will be taken.

JUNIOR HANDLERS

Junior Handlers will be held in the lunch break on Saturday.

TOP DOG POINTSCORE COMPETITION

The Top Dog Point score 2019 Final will be held on Saturday evening. Numbers are limited so if you are interested in attending this event you can purchase your ticket on www.easydogentries.com. The event is listed in ‘Enter Shows’ just below the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society or please phone on (02) 9607 3721. Venue: Gold Creek Tourist Resort, Nicholls, ACT. Tickets: $66
